Weeks of probation and preparation reached a climax at reception day ceremonies. Father Burroughs, assisted by Ilene Melford, Sodality prefect, receives seniors Carol Burke, lois Clause, Mary Marquis, and Mary Hause into the Sodality. Each year, University ef Detroit Sodality presents a two day Training School of Sodality Action, consisting of discussion groups and talks about the Sodality. Mercy's Mary Ann Eichman took second place in the TSSA poster contest. Judy Walsh and Dick Dougherty paused to admire it before hurrying to another session. s t 5' , fwM4lWW'Wfm'W , ef- f, 1 f A 5-,f l9

Sodclity Officers The ideal Mercian's life is not only concerned with studies and other school activities, but with a matter that will rate her an A in eter- nity. This, of course is the Sodality. From her moment of reception, every thought, Word, and deed is dedicated to Christ's most Holy Mother. Through giving herself to Mary, she will reach her goal . . . Christ. This is her way of Life. The road to heaven is offered to her in the rules and obligations she accepts. Her main purpose in life is the sanctifi- cation of herself and others. - She need not fear the future. Walking with Mary and her Son, how could she err? Participating wholeheartedly in singing Christmas carols during the food-giving ceremony in Mc Auley auditorium were the Sodality officers, Jeanne Moyni- han, co-prefect, Ilene Melford, prefect, Christine Pado, secretary, Judy Walsh, Queen's Work co-editor, and Maureen Mc Garrigle, treasurer.
