Mrckey O Schrckey of Lrckey Vrllage AND CANDY DID THE Truck FRANCES GRANT 46 OW once upon a trme there was a moun tam a great brg one and on thrs moun tam was a castle a great huge one and rn thrs great huge castle on the great brg mountarn there lrved a grant a tremendous grant Thrs grant was very prankrsh He took candy away from the babres rn Lrckey Vrllage at the foot of thrs great brg mountarn and went home to hrs great huge castle and ate rt all up You know of course that grants are zery fond of candy especrally chocolate covered caramels wrth nuts rn them Thrs tremendous grant would walk down the streets of Lrckey Vrllage leavrng great footprrnts people of Lrckey Vrllage had to get out therr spades and shovels and fill rn the great gaprng craters before they could rrde down the street On holrdays thrs wrcked grant even filled huge bags wrth water and when the vrllagers were all set to go out on prcnrcs he prrcked holes rn the bags When the people felt these man made rarndrops they shook therr fists at the grant who towered above them Then they would turn dejectedly back to therr homes where they sat and played prnochle whrle the water came pourmg out of the sunny s and therr wrn dows rattled and shook as the wrcked grant roared wrth laugh ter Yes thrs grant was very mrschrevous Because he was so mean the grant was named Wrcked Grant Who Makes Lrfe Mrser 12 able For The People Of Lrckey Vrllage and be cause he was called that the grant fwhom we shall call Wrcked Grant for short because that other name rs too longj thought rt was funny and deter mmed to lrxe up to hrs name So he sat rn hrs great charr plottrng out mrschref to play on the poor people of Lrckey Vrllage When a wrcked rdea popped rnto hrs head he would laugh uproarrously sprrng to hrs feet roll down the mountarn rn sheer glee and wrth great swrngrng strrdes enter Lrckey Vrllage to accomplrsh hrs errand of mrschref When the people saw Wrcked Grant laugh up roarrously sprrng to hrs feet and roll down the would scurry rnto therr cottages latch therr doors and wrndows and wart for the grant to return to hrs castle on the mountarn They were all too terrrfied to lrft a finger or toe agarnst Wrcked Grant so they drd nothrng about rt But one day after Wrcked Grant had wreaked some par trcularly clever mrschref on the frrghtened townspeople of Lrckey Vrllage and he had strode up the mountarn rn par trcularly frne sprrrts the town ofiicrals decrded to do some thrng about therr predrcament so they called all the people to gether and began to map out a plan of actron Now as the Board of Elders sat strokrng therr long whrte beards and the rest of the people sat rn therr charrs cogr tatrng an rdea popped rnto the . , I I Q , 7 7 ' 5 3 7 7 , .
