CLASS PROPHECY Ambling down Broadway the other day, I ran into none other than my old friend PASQUALE NAVARRO, who was just released from Leavenworth where he had spent a happy time, since his graduation, with his old business associates. We had a pleasant conversation about our old buddies and decided to pay a visit to each illustrious member of the Class of 1944. We hadn't gone far when a sign - The Green Visor -hanging from a second floor tenement house on the East Side drew our attention. As we were about to enter, BILL COSGROVE, dressed in the navy blue of a policeman, appeared on the scene. Bill who always wanted to be a Gfman, told us that the 'LGreen Visor was a gaming house, owned and operated by HANK RIDALL and GEORGE FOLLANSBEE with BOB DUGGAN as the acting bouncer of all riotious customers. Cosey also told us about a big trial down at the court house where the Honorable- JAMES MURRAY EGAN was judging the case of TEE'HEE SIPE vs. the peaceful citizen LOU GREU' LICH, who was pressing charges of reckless driving on the part of Ed. CLYDE ARMSTRONG was the criminal lawyer in the trial. We happened to pass the Ida Mae MANSMANN'S store, the best for second hand goods. Jack told us all about SAM GILMORE and DAVE STEELE who were both happily married, home husbands with ten kids apiece. DAVE FOX, BILL SAUERS, and JACK SIEBER tried to entice us to buy their latest in casual informal wear. BOB HOFMANN was heard arguing with a customer that his face was his fortune, and fthe customerj should come to his fHofrnann'sJ beauty saloon. Out on the street again we passed the streetfwalker, BILL BOYNE, carrying a sand' wich board, which solicited WILLIAM JONES' photo studios. It was always said that C. TAYLOR MARSHALL looked like a monkey, well, sure enough, there he was with a tin cup in his hand and a chain around his neck, dancing to the organ grind music of Foo Foo Baby , written, composed, and sung by RANDY GOLDSBOR' OUGH, who was holding Tail's chain. As we still go farther clown the street, a familiar echo came to our ears, Read the latest, just off the press-The Edis Tdahsf' yelled by the editor, FRED WILLEY, who was trying to sell his own papers. He tells us that without the help of his life long flunkies, GUS SEDER, MARTIN LIGHT, and DON MARKSTEIN, he could never have produced such a common, ordinary, everyday, true to life paper. Fred brings back memories of the old days by relating how STOKES ADAMS won the Pulitzer prize with his scientific novel, To Woo and To Win. DON WHITE also enters into pic' ture when we discover that he is on Information Please, because of his notoriety as a book reviewer. Q Your two ramblers, having discovered that dusk has fallen, ascend into one of the quieter nightclubs for a glass of ah-milk, where to our astonishment we hear GEORGE HOFFMANN beating-the drums and see the city's leading playboys-STEVE DAVIES, and KENNEDY RAY--waltz to the boogie Woogie by HERB AYRES.
