DAY BY DAY SEPTEMBER 20- Out at Shady Side, a suburb of civilization, the bells rang for the first time to direct all the happy, young lads with bright faces, clean teeth, and no hangovers to the premier classes of the 1944 grueling sessions. SEPTEMBER 23- jerry Fink and Bob Douglas are still rising at the crack of dawn with the cockfaf doodlefdo from Mr. Celestin's roosters. Both seniors were heard to remark that no matter where they go, a chicken will always get them up. SEPTEMBER 24- Mr. Wolf staged a special meeting of Croft House to find out where the missing boarder in Room 29 might be. SEPTEMBER 28- fMr. Waldrop wishes to know, If perchance you could come over to my room after dinner, Bill, I would like to converse with you. , SEPTEMBER 29- Poor Bill Furey returns to his room haggard and worn after a gruelling verbal marathon with Mr. Waldrop. Said Bill, NI spend half my senior year over in that room. OCTOBER 3- As Coach Davis, armed with rags and shampoo, attacked the inchfthick layer of soot, long installed on his Black Maria , betting was profuse, concerning the original color. Verdict: It is black. OCTOBER IO- The OPA formally announces that no more rubba will be used for civilian corsets. Mr. Vorce looks worried. OCTOBER 13- What happened to the million dollar baby from the five and ten cent store? OCTOBER 19- The day's main attraction in Croft House was the 'ilitterbug Jamboree , led by jim White. OCTOBER 24- Mr. Shriver's barrel of ersterz just come. But it don't make no never mind, we ain't going to get none no how. OCTOBER 27- ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? OCTOBER 28- It is most interesting to note that oubi, oubi, will soon come goo to this school under the glub, glub. This sort of cooperation manifests itself in ugh. And neither do labor leaders. NOVEMBER 3- Mr. Gates spent his first joyous day at Shady Side looking for his fourth period, accelerated history boys, who escaped his class by jumping out the window when the illustrious teacher's back was turned. NOVEMBER 4- Mr. Gates is still looking for his fourth period history class. NOVEMBER 5- L'Gypsy Rose Lee Navarro plays a command performance for the Varsity Football Squad, as a shocked parent looks on. NOVEMBER 10- Mr. Howard with five class lists in hand stopped every outgoing student at the gates with the following: Don't I have you on my hotfdog list?
