THE UNDERGRADUATES Although the members of the Sixth Form make up the greater part of the athletic teams and participate more fully in the various clubs and organizations on the campus, the undergraduates, through their interest, cooperation, and support, aid the Seniors in almost all their school activities. Even though the underformers .constitute only a minor part of the campus groups, it is from this minority that the future leaders of Shady Side will be chosen. From the foregoing statement it might seem that only the older boys take part in the school activities, The younger boys who make up the non-varsity teams are being trained for future positions on the varsity. By their wholefhearted support and admiration, these underformers build the morale of the varsity teams to the high point where it always is and maintain this morale throughout the year. The underformers' activities, however, are not limited to athletics. The Musical Clubs, The Chapel Orchestra, and The A Cappella Glee Club, are open to everyone. As is the custom on Commencement Eve, the Junior Class sponsors a dance for the graduating class. The chairmen of this year's committee are Hugh McKenna Lynch, Theodore Rohrer Leaman, Jr., Thomas William Frank, and Roger North Wiewel. This year, more than ever before, the underformers are participating more fully in the student government. The Student Council has been enlarged to include representaf tives from the Third and Fourth Forms. Hugh McKenna Lynch, Theodore Rohrer Leaf rnan, Jr., and James Pettigrew Waddell from the Fifth Form, Donald DeWitt Rait, jr., and James Ellis Robertson from the Fourth Form, and William Morrow Patterson, jr., from the Third Form are the undergraduate members of this year's council. We, the graduating class, leave Shady Side with a deep appreciation for the whole' hearted support of the undergraduates and with firm belief, strong trust, and great faith that those boys who follow will keep, as we have endeavored to keep, the name and traditions of Shady Side honorable and outstanding.
