The next day, having traveled from New York to Pittsburgh on one of FRANK BAILEY'S Trail Blazers , we head toward Fox Chapel, however, by some misconnec- tions we find ourselves on a river, pole and flat boat, navigated by WARREN BEEKEN, on the way to that outpost community of Beaver. Beeks urged us to stay over night at the Douglas Flophousen before returning to Pittsburgh by covered wagon the next day. There at the flophouse we were rudely accepted by the proprietor BOB DOUG' LAS, the notorious Indian hunter and field plower, second in the latter only to JERRY FIN K. While in Beaver we ran across DREW NEUENSCHWANDER who was mak- tombs in TOMB'S Tomb Memorial Tomb Company. On walking down the one and only street of this burg, lo, and behold, we behold JIM XVHITE sitting on the curb, mumbling something about how wrong Brotzman was about the weather with a high going from North to South, and a low going in the other direction. Oh, well, we decide to leave this place and go back to civilization via mule team. There were two mules on this trip, both under the charge of mule skinner BOB SUSTEIN. A little boy asked Bob to give him a donkey to take home, but Bob said he couldn't do that, because the mules were counted. I It has been a hard day, so wishing some light entertainment, we went to the town's newest stage hit, Eight Downbeats and a Flat , written and directed by COOPER BAILEY. JACK BECKER was starring as THE FLAT and BILL FUREY as one of the NDOWNBEATSM, a dead one. The show was stopped half way through the performance so that the latest news could be announced. JIM CRAIG, an up and com- ing college graduate from HUBBARD University, where he received his B.S. degree, defeated the country's leading radical, BILL BLASDELL, for the Democratic nomina- tion for the presidency. As we walked out of the theater, what didn't confront us but the AZEN and WOLK, Ltd. wholesale and retail furriers, where we saw the JACOB boys ARCH and BILL running around inside, making sure the books were in good order. JACK MURRAY was seen pasting advertisements to a bill board. Not wishing to waste any more time, we hailed the nearest cab, a Ford 7f8 of 1932 vintage, which was driven by cabbie BILL BIRMINGHAM, whom we told to get us out to our old Alma Mater tout de suite . It was a hilarious ride, taking a little over two hours. At Shady Side we found WALTER BLENKO still telling the old teachers how in his point of view!---J. On a huge plaque snuggled away somewhere in the gym, RAY WEFING'S name appears for breaking the Siberian 100 yard dash in eleven seconds flat. Well you read it and wept, but that's what has become of our classmates ten years in the future. Keep an eye on these fellows, they're going somewhere? As for the authors of this masterpiece, aha, it's hard to say, but PAT NAVARRO and JACK BALLANTYNE both of EGERIAN fame are planning a good, a very good end for the 1944 ACADEMIAN.
