We entered into the phase of creased and pointed school hats, not-too-white saddle shoes, lvy League book covers, baby food diets, and art supplies: one baggy smock, one bottle of water, one art folio, eight bottles of paint, and two paint brushes. Our superiority was first expressed when we moved up a seat on the bus and when we looked up, not down, for our lockers. Yet our inferior side showed when we still had first lunch with the children, and when we had to give up our seat to a junior or a sophistie cated senior. The newness of sophomore year out- weighed the commonplace problems. We could bear renewing acquaintance with Caesar and friends for we were so anxious to figure out how the base angles of an isosceles triangle could ever be equal, and to prove that Hnous ne parlons pas francais, ln sophomore year we were expected to know everything and were treated as though we knew nothing. The disease had no safe cure. Its symptoms were evident, the pain enduring, the time involved - one year. Hs the year drew to a close, the epidemic ended and we saw and felt a great change in ourselves for we were now on the brink of our junior year. When we finish Vlforld History, well know what makes the world tick,
