wma The completion of this year book, the last united effort of the class of '58, is symbolic of the completion of our years at Mercy. Plnticipating graduation, We can look back thankfully on high school days Well spent. Guided by our principle, Prayer, Power, Progress, accepting the counsel of our teachers, and cooperating with the grace of God, We have been trained to take our rightful place as leaders in the world. But we could have done nothing without the help offered us throughout our high school careers. Therefore, in these concluding remarks, it is only fitting that we express our gratitude to those who have been responsible for our success. Our first debt, of course, is to our parents, through Whose foresight and generosity, We have received the intellectual, cultural and spiritual benefits of a Catholic education. Their praise and encouragement - and their cor- rections - have helped us to realize our scholastic objectives, soon to be consummated in graduation. Our teachers also deserve honorable mention, for Without their Wise guidance, wholesome instructions, and genuine interest, our school days would have been not only useless, but terrifically dull. Of course, a special vote of thanks goes to Father Potterton, our mentor, Confessor, teacher and friend, whose lucid explanations have cleared up many a problem, and whose Witty sayings have brightened many a day. Finally, We, the graduates of '58, offer a prayer of thanksgiving to Hlmighty God, first, for granting us the privilege of attending Our Lady of Mercy Flcademy, and next, for giving us the grace to persevere in our aims. Our theme: Prayer, Power, Progress will remind us, in the years ahead, of our complete' dependence on God and His Providence. Our years at Mercy have prepared us for the world because they were centered around God, the Source of strength and of truthg our future success depends largely upon our continued faith in His help. I can do all things in Him Who strengthens me. 149
