41- I Tidal Wave rolls in If you read the Tidal Wave you know. That's what all the students at Lakes have been saying about the school newspaper, the Tidal Wave. The paper has been a splashing success this year. With the advising of Mr. Ballou, a new teacher at Lakes, the paper real- ly went over well. The staff of the Tidal Wave has been hard at work ever since the beginning of the year. Theyive been busy acquiring information for articles, meeting deadlines and getting ads to support the newspaper. Each month a paper was published. It contained in- formation about the school, sports, academics and other features. It helped the students out with knowledge of upcoming events and events that pass- ed. The Tidal Wave really outdid itself this year and next year it hopes to continue rolling on to bring ashore all of Lakes good news. Q . R+ X I Y .. Homecoming '80: A memorable n g October 10, 1980, is a date that will be remembered by many students as well as alumni and parents from Lakes. It was the night of the 1980 Homecoming. The Homecoming wasn't just a one night event as preparations were being made the whole week before. Plans were made for decorating the gym, what to wear, and voting for the representatives and king and queen. By Friday night everyone was anxious for the dance. Some people were on the floor dancing to the band, Renegade, while others admired the gym decorated by the Iuniors. Then the time came for what everyone was waiting for. First the representatives of the classes were introduced: 8th graders Kim Boyd and Chris Iohnson, Freshmen Laura Lilienthal and Bob Schuster, Sophomores Tania Ottman and Dave Hensel, and Iuniors Chris Brink and Ioe Lucas. Then came the nominees for King and Queen: Lynn Boyd, Tammy Boyea, Rhonda Councilor, Iulie Kulick, Lynn Hensel, Mike McMahon, Kevin Oliver and Dave Pasterz. Everyone then quieted down as the names of the King and Queen were announced: Mike McMahon and Iulie Kulick. - TOP: Newly crowned Queen, Julie Kulick, and King, Mike McMahon, pose with Fr. Cronk.
