-...,.-- ,-4y ..?k- . Varsity girls' B-b all The girls' varsity basketball team had a very strenuous season. They pulled through many games to win. They were tied for league champions which hasn't been done since 1972. An outstanding player on the team was Kristi Brink who was awarded All-Catholic and All-League First Team. She was the leading scorer for the team. Another excellent player for the Lakers was Tracy Beadlescombe who received All-League First Team. She was an excellent ball handler and defensive player. Both Maureen Boyle and Dawn Cairns were awarded All-League Honorable Men- tion. But without the help of the rest of the team they couldn't have done it. This year the team was coached by Dan Sioma who helped the team with his enthusiasm and spirit. The girls' record was 17-5. Their last game was against Pontiac Catholic for the C-D districts. If you ever go to a girls' basketball game, you can see the pride they have for their school. You can see the satisfac- tion of success and the tears when they are defeated which isn't often. The girls deserve a lot of credit. fl' 5,-.,,M.,,, 'Wx if f : Co champs LN WCW 4 , ww! if Y W, f 0 I W fy f ff .K Mm W ' ff? 1 4 ' 'A 9 4 ff W j f ff QQ I , Z iy zf ff' I? . ! I.V. g1rls dribble to even season The I.V. girls' basketball team consisted of only six players but they made up for their small numbers in perseverance and skill. Because of a great team effort, the I.V. ended with a 5-5 record. This year there was a new addition to the I.V. team. Chris Townsend, the new coach, made all the dif- ference nithe season. During the basketball season, one could see the girls practicing hard every day after school from 2-4 p.m. and on Sundays from 7-9 p.m. The team realized that all the hard practices and super Sprints paid off as they all joined the varsity team in the playoff game at Pon- tiac Catholic. The enthusiasm the girls' I.V. team displayed throughout the season shows that in the years to come they will develop into a winning varsity team. The talents and abilities they have in basketball are proof that this will happen. .34 . 2 ,ggfnavv ...,V N0 . . f f LU 5 , ,,. ..,. 5 A I y 30,1 Ai, ,,.'. 3 :riff . 1 . '. 7 , l T , ,, .
