However, they had a quality that everyone admires, the quality of team unity. The team was a unified group of young men, striving for perfection. Led by captains Mike McMahon and Kevin Oliver, they captured an undefeated league champion- ship which also allowed them to achieve their season long goal of playing for the Prep Bowl title in the Silverdome on November 1. Many Laker players were awarded honors. Mike McMahon, Ierry Cairns and Steve Schuster made first team AllfCatholic and first team All-County along with Steve Green. Mike McMahon made All-State first team. TOP: Coach Boyd gives last minute instructions to the team. ABOVE: jerry Cairns uses his blockers to pick up another first down.
