ingle with the bilinguals ' Que Lastima are the usual murmurs heard from Mrs. Corral's Spanish I class when an assignment is given, but the students will learn Spanish. Studying a foreign language at Our Lady of the Lakes can be trying at times, but Mrs. Han- son and Mrs. Corral consider it easy with a little studying at home. Their goal is to produce many bilingual students. Words and phrases are not all that the French and Spanish have been studying. They study popular places that have a lot of background behind them. They do research so they can broaden their knowledge of the language and culture they are taking. Both Spanish and French classes attended rock concerts at Masonic Temple and enjoyed a luncheon afterwards. They had French and Spanish breakfasts, at which the students were able to cook and eat at their own risk. The French class had a cheese tasting day and tried different cheeses on French rolls. The French and Spanish classes have a lot to learn, but their rewards are big. f Zi? ABOVE: Bobbie Allen smiles as she dreams of Paris in the spring. Explore the world o History students at Lakes discovered that there is no boundary to the amount of infor- mation that can be learned about the world's past. From the creation of the universe to the 1980 elections, the students studied the im- portant events of each year that make up history. The World History classes, taught by Mr. Spain, started with the evolution of man and worked up through the development of the European countries, Mr. Miller's U.S. History class learned about the foundations of our country, and Mr. Sioma taught his students the ways of American Government. Students who elected social studies courses discovered that the past is a guide to the future: What's past is prologue. xx. TOP: Second hour government works on waking up after a hard weekend.
