, X. it I 1 Q 0 Teachers stimulate students studies During the summer months four of our teachers left to pursue other careers or to go to other schools, but by the time school started back up in September, we had nine new teachers to take the place of the four we lost. This is the largest staff that Our Lady of the Lakes High School has ever had. Due to the increase in the number of teachers, students were able to receive special attention from teachers and extra help with their work if it was needed. Besides the twenty regular teachers, we also had the ad- ministrative staff teaching. Mr. Bailey taught English, Mrs. Fischer taught ninth grade social studies, and Mr. Miller taught English and social studies. The quality of the staff at Lakes is reflected in the excellence of their teaching and of their students. 2' 1. I Religion: An enlightening experience One of the benefits students at Lakes receive is a religious program. The main goal of the religion teachers is to show students the role of God in their lives. Mr. Drury, in his second year at Lakes, does his best to get each student involved in religious activities, projects, Bible study and discussion. Our newest addition, Mr. DiPietro, teaches about the emerging church and its history and about morality in today's world. This year's classes consisted of sacramen- tal activities and discussions about Christian J morality. Each class has had debates on it'-K, A, marijuana use, abortion and the drinking age.- This year, as always, the religion classes taught the students valuable lessons that they will use now and throughout their lives to help them become better citizens.
