The songs end, but the experiences are not always separated from our souls. So, too, it is with our memories of Our Lady of Angels High School. just four years ago, as freshmen, we gazed in awe upon O. L. A.'s halls. We experienced that hilarious initiation day and a host of other events, but it was our first look that counted- that breath-taking sight of those glorious angels, holding aloft their flaming torches of Christian enlightenment. With sincere fervor and enthusiasm we raised our hearts to God with those torches and thanked Him for the memory. Bittersweet was our sophomore year, for here we delved into deeper study. Hectic, jovial volleyball, basketball, and baseball games became our big moments. We cheered ourselves hoarse for the glory of the Green and Gold. We were now true boosters of O. L. A., no longer rookies. We belonged! We do not believe we can ever forget the Junior Prom, the highlight of our next year. No matter how many suitors lay their hearts at our feet in the years to come, we shall always recall our prom date, that beautiful corsage, and a glorious evening that ended all too soon. Truly, another happy memory! Finally, we are to experience the greatest moment of all- GRADUATION. Unsteady voices will whisper farewell. Clad in immaculate caps and gowns, grasping our long-awaited diplomas, we shall take one last lingering look at our loved Alma Mater. Even now as we grope for the courage to utter good-bye, we find consolation in our wonderful memories. Let us hope that the coming years will make us more appreciative, will help us strike the right note on life's highway, so that when Master Death lifts his baton, we shall hear those words that will be music to our ears: Come, ye blessed of My Father Only then, can we re-live the nostalgic big moments which this, our 1948 Anmranffa, presents. REHRING, S.T.D., D.D. viuxiliary 'Bishop of Cincinnati Page :wen Peg: riglsl Q 0 fig YI . 5 r I 'QL ls.. I I I I HERE IS ONLY ONE TIME when memory will function perfectly in every detail. That is the moment we close our eyes in death. Then we shall see once more in the twinkling of an eye every single thought, word, and deed of our life, and we will remember them as our very own! That may be fortunate or unfor- tunate, depending on what we have to remember! Accurate as our memory will be then, it is strange that it should be so erratic now. Likewise, it is strange that we can remember more tenaciously and clearly the disagreeable things than the gracious things! At times, this inability is an occasion for real regret, for joys are so fleeting that we would like to taste them all over again! Yet even this disappointing phenomenon is part of God's wise providence, for He would have us wait until eternity for the full attainment of our joy! Memory, then, is a tricky thing, albeit a wonderful gift of God. Let us hope that it will never fail when it comes to remembering that once upon a time you spent four Wonderful years in a school dedicated to Mary. XVhat made those years so wonderful was the fact that Mary was here in spirit! And memory performs its most comforting task when it reminds us that we mortal beings do have a Mother while we are in this vale of tears. Cause of Our JOY-U FR. EDWIN SCHICK, O.F.M. Chaplain. S shepherds Watching over their flocks to see that they are not devoured by the wolf, our pastors have helped us ward off the dangers of a godless education. The Catholic education they have so generously offered us and their in- terest in our welfare we shall long remem- ber. We can repay their kindness to us only by using to the best of our ability the ad- vantages they have given us. The balance with interest is paid to them in the next World. Plan now to become a part of the telephone organization when you graduate from high school. You will find that telephone people like their jobs-and that every job is im- portant. The pay is good. The work is steady. The Com- pany's Benefit and Pension Plan helps employees and their families in times of sickness, accident, old age, and death. And the opportunity for advancement is open to all.
