Our junior year marked the occasion of Adoption Day, when we welcomed our little sisters in the spirit of fun and friendship with the theme Dreams are nothing more than wishes. A mass of tangled strings and tags led our little sisters to us, and we sealed the day singing, The Puppy Song by Harry Nilsson. Lunch followed, during which the entire student body feasted on grinders, cake and soda... September, 1972. Arab terror¬ ists kill Israeli athletes at Munich Olympics. In the tradition of the Sophomore Christmas Play, we presented the story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas to the faculty and stu¬ dents. Later Santa Claus and his elves visited with all. To end the day on a festive note, we sang joy¬ ously in anticipation of the seasonal celebrations. . .December, 1971. United States command in Saigon announced the end of intensified bombing of Viet Nam after five days. In observance of Arbor Day we planted a Flowering Magnolia tree on the Academy grounds and read the governor’s Proclama¬ tion. The song we sang, Morn¬ ing Has Broken by Cat Stevens, truly proclaimed the bursting of newness and life. We buried our time capsule containing all those things that meant something to us: a class tie, a cigarette, a picture, a Biology lab fish. With this we left some remains of our past and present for those who would live in the future. . . April, 1972. After three days of talks during a goodwill visit from President Nixon, Canada Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau and his guest signed a landmark treaty calling for a massive program to cleanse the Great Lakes of pollution. 8
