When he assumed the principalship this year, he was determined that these traditions should be preserved and extended. His alert and sympathetic interest in the students and his loyalty and devotion to duty hold much promise for the future of Ouachita. Delegates elected by their class- mates and approved by the faculty attend Pelican State at Louisiana State University for a nine-day ses- sion at the end of their junior year. The students, who are kept busy learning about the elections and du- ties of city, parish, and state of- ficials, and the holding of conven- tions, cast their votes for state officers on voting machines at the end of the session. They also marched at the games and in some parades. Other activities were to publish the football program and to sell fruit cakes and pen and pencil sets. Highlighting football season was a banquet in honor of the football players. In order to be a member of this organization a girl from the ninth to the twelfth grade must make and maintain a scholastic average of 80. She must also be able to march. Sponsors for this group are Mr. L. M. Frey and Mrs. Dorothy Hill.
