A great scientist has said that science is the creation of concepts, and their exploration in the facts. Since the time of the alchemists and magicians of the Middle Ages, who thought nature must be mastered, we have learned that we gain our ends only by understanding and working with nature. In the short interval between 1937 and 1957, man has discovered and all but tamed the incredible energy within the atom. What, then, lies ahead? The challenge has been given our schools of today to furnish, through our broad curricula, the facts and the im- petus to the imagination necessary to take the first step toward providing the undreamecl of abundance and well- being promised by science.
