7? 4, '1 za N e oreweorcl i, 4 .si ' '. lf Q1 lg ' Although buildings are torn down and remodeled, manuscripts re- written, theories corrected, and customs changed, many worthwhile things live to become traditional. Others are improved by the addition of new styles, ideas, and habits. In our school life, as well as in our community, traditions tend to grow, and progress is marked by invention and discovery. Here at Ouachita we value our reputation for thorough scholastic training and good sportsmanship. Such activities as the choir's caroling in the halls at Christmastime, Monday after- noon faculty meetings, and the annual senior assembly have become traditions. A student council, a Guidance Department, distributive education, and plans for a remodeled building are but a few signs of progress at O. P. H. S. We treasure the educational, religious, cultural, and civic traditions of our community, yet we welcome the advancements of this progressive era. One of the newest steps forward here in Monroe is television, which provides not only entertainment but educational advantages as well. Since various school organizations have participated on programs, TV has become a community center for the school's extracurricular activities. y In an effort to present a complete picture of our school activities, both the old and the new, the staff proudly presents the 1954 Roarer.
