Principal V. A. Jones Some time ago the city of Ottumwa adopted the slogan, ‘Today's City with Tomorrow's Vision. We might rephrase that slogan for the senior high school and say that it is Today's Vision of Tomor- row's City. This can be done for two reasons and both of these reasons have to do with the way in which the high school student body has an in- fluence on the Ottumwa of tomorrow. First of all, as a little community of 1,300 stu- dents within the larger Ottumwa community, we can be a vital part of the activity of the present by our contributions to the welfare of Ottumwa today and everyday of the year. The solid academic work of our high school teenagers, the promotion of worthy social causes, the enthusiasm for new ideas and projects for the improvement of the school, and the work in the homes and busi- nesses of the community all contribute to making a good Ottumwa today. Ass’t. Principal Lewis E. Dye Miss Ida Blanche McCarroll, Mrs. Marietta Blackburn and Miss Jane Smith in the High School Office. Secondly, we can think of the high school as Today's Vision of Tomorrow's City in that our high school citizens will be the city citizens of to- morrow. The better we learn our lessons of citizen- ship today, the better will be our city of tomorrow. Our work of the past year in Ottumwa High School has been marked by many highlights for individual students and for our school. We can see how these accomplishments have made a good year and how they will contribute to a better future. Our high school and our community will benefit from the good which has been accom- plished. V. A. Jones
