FOREWORD In presenting this 1959 Argus Annual the aim and most sincere wish of the staff is that this shall serve as a summary of the past year's activities in the Ottumwa High School, one which in years to come will serve to bring back pleasant memories to those who have tasted the pleasures and benefits of high school life. Judge it by your own standards of what a book of this sort should be, being lenient in criticism for we confess it has defects. Nevertheless, if it furnishes brief enjoyment for today and lasting pleasure for tomorrow, then we will feel repaid for our earnest efforts. The Argus staff is indebted to all those who worked many hours without pay, to the students and organizations who materially contributed to the production of the book by their patience and cooperation, and to all the commercial firms who have had a part in building this book.
