STUDENT COUNCIL MRS. JAMES, Student Council Advisor We. the students of the Ottumwa High School owe the Student Council a vote of thanks for the many services which they have performed for us of the student body and for the community in which we live. One of their worthwhile projects was their JAIL which they erected in the cafeteria. Teachers were kept from eating their lunch by students paying 50c a minute to keep them in jail. In this way they collected $76.79 for the March of Dimes. When the late Mrs. Bottorff passed away they col- lected $100.00 for a memorial to be put in the cafeteria. It was also the Student Council who made it possible for us to have our Red, White Days” and to have the privilege of ringing the victory bell. Who me? Another case for Sherlock The Lonely Hearts Club getting new members I think we can beat the wheel by this formula Page 18

In Memoriam A memorial has been established in memory of the late Mrs. Marie Bottorff who served as staff manager of our cafe- teria for the past 25 years. Mrs. Bottorff began her day at 5:00 a. m. and seldom ended it before 3 p. m. She also willingly spent extra time preparing special meals for ath- letes and students under medical prescription. I'm sure we appreciate all the work she has contributed in making Ottumwa High School's cafeteria one of the most efficient in the state of Iowa. Page 19
