The hours upon hours of decorating all climaxed in one night. The months of planning came to an end. The years of anticipation finally fulfilled. Truly, it was Fiesta '84 and so much more! 60 pcvuuttae ?o4t uC Even though the game was lost, happiness still filled the air. Of the candidates, Kim Welch, Sandy Gebauer, and Kim Sheerer, Kim Sheerer was crowned Queen and Steve Dittman crowned King. The affair was well prepared by the cheerleaders and Sports Boosters. Thus, the gala occasion proceeded smoothly. 61 e a c e % e e a d c % 4 s a 4 6 a V 7 K t 4 s e a 4 4 K Sashay, as described by Noah Webster: To strut or move about in an ostentatious manner, aptly describes the grace that entered the fields and gyms as our Terrors strived for victory. During the summer, we attended several luncheons. The first one was to become acquainted with each other and to receive our speeches. After that, we attended six dinners where we gave our speeches, went to the races, and participated in two parades. The last dinner we attended was to meet the judges. During Fair week, we went to all the special shows. On Friday night, we all awaited anxiously to perform and to hear the results of the judging. The judging is not based on looks, but on several different categories. These include scholarship, personality, poise, fair appearances, fair cooperation, school activities, community activities, and talent. It was a great experience and I would advise anyone to give it a try. — Amy Snyder 64 Wu O-Sf Top: THE PRODUCTION STAFF — These are the people who are responsible for how the book was constructed. This isn’t a TV interview. TOM: It's not? Boy, is my public gonna be upset! OTTOCRAT: Okay guys, ready? TOM: Uh . . . hey are all the questions gonna be that difficult? CASEY: Please ignore him. OTTOCRAT: With a 6-3 record, do you feel that this was a successful year? CASEY: Yes, definitely, we were expected to finish the year 2 7. We workec hard and accomplished what we wanted and more. OTTOCRAT: Tom, do you feel that teamwork is an important part of tha game? TOM: Oh yeah, I couldn't carry out my job without all those cheerleader! calling out my name. CASEY: Tom, I think she was asking about the rest of the team. Not the cheerleaders. OTTOCRAT: Casey, can't you save this interview and say something about the 1984 season? CASEY: Yes, I want everyone to know that our first year with Coach Hess was successful in every way. We might not have been the League champs but we gained the respect of every team and coach in our League. TOM: In closing. I would like to tell all the cheerleaders that I'm not bup Saturday night and my number is in the book . . . There is no one-person show in this game.” Brenda Pascarella, a two-year member and a captain offers, I never realized so much work could mean such fun and give me self-satisfaction. This year's team became the first volleyball team in the history of Otto-Eldred to finish an undefeated season and complete a 28-1 game record. Junior Mike Pascarelii The nineteenth hole was always an easy par. Freshman John Petruzzi: Next year should be the most successful season in the history of O-E. Freshmen Mike Goodyear: Taking into consideration: that four out of the Five that started were usualli freshmen, we did alright against some really tougf: J teams. Freshman Chris Slavin: Golf is a really exciting individual sport; I have improved my game. Freshman Lance Looker: Although the team doesn't get much recognition from the students, golf is a ven exciting sport! 92 fuUC Sfafen Cross country is an enjoyable and competitive sport. We had a losing season, but the benefits of running in practice made the sport worthwhile. Many times, practice could be a total of ten miles. There are several reasons to run cross country: (1) to get into shape for another sport such as track or basketball, (2) to gain endurance, (3) to run for pleasure. We ran against the state champions, Oswayo Valley, twice this past season. The results were not encouraging; however, the experience helped us in our extremely close win over Smethport. Captain Tiff McLaughlin tells Ottocrat. We are friends on and off the court.' Tiff is a four-year member of the varsity team. I started playing varsity ball when I was a freshman. I remember getting walked all over by those older girls; it was depressing. But now I'm glad I got all that playing time back then. Tiff confesses. I gained a lot of experience and my high school basketball career lasted longer than most girls. It kind of bothers me that the team record is in the yearbook. continues Tiff, it's almost like a one-sided story. People just see all the results; they only get part of the game. JOE: Right now, we are tied for second place in the Northern Tier League; and this Friday we play the First place team. OTTOCRAT: Thank you for that piece of information, Joe, but could you please wait until the question is asked? Now then, Chris, what do you think of the season so far? CHRIS: We have a reason to be optimistic; we started the season off slowly, but we’ve won six of the last seven games. JOE: I don't want to be idealistic about this season, but I think we should go to the playoffs. OTTOCRAT: What do you think the team lacks,Joe? JOE: Height, but we make up for it in speed, intelligence, and teamwork. Now can I ask you a question? What do you think of Wilson's League of Nations?
