Six years and many experiences have past since we first gathered together as a group in seventh grade. Who can forget that first terrifying day? Before long, however, everyone was accustomed to the routine, and the obstacles were conquered. During our junior high years many novel activities opened their doors to us. Once in ninth grade, we gained the privilege of calling ourselves Freshmen. Now we were certain that long-awaited high school was just around the corner. Finally, in September 1966, we entered high school, where a new outlook on school and life presented itself to us. Although careers seemed far in the future, we began giving serious consideration to them. Striving for our magazine sale's goal, taking part in the play, struggling over college boards, and preparing for the memorable Prom Night highlighted our junior year. Suddenly, the realization hit us that in just a few months we would be on our own. Then the desired day arrived; we were Seniors. Privileges and responsibilities never before encountered presented themselves to us. When the year commenced, graduation seemed ages away. However, pictures, announcements, the banquet were too soon gone. Before we actually realized it, graduation was upon us. We now looked forward to a fresh beginning with our store of memories to guide us. 10 11 Paul R. Bishop Patricia A. Close 12 Lesley A. Dyring 13 14 James S. Gold 15 Judy A. Hilliard Nancy L. Each has a specialty in the culinary art and through their combined efforts our menus are varied and appetizing. At the holiday seasons special meals are prepared. This extra thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated by all that eat in our cafeteria. Our school is considered to be one of the best appearing buildings in the field of education. This is only possible through the efforts of our custodial staff. Hard work and personal interest in the building gives each man extra incentive in keeping our building and grounds a place of beauty. It is fitting that special recognition be given to those who have been outstanding as all-around good students during their school years. To meet this need, the National Honor Society was organized, composed of seniors and juniors chosen by the faculty. The national scope of this organization makes the honor of belonging even more desirable. To become eligible for membership, a student must be in the upper third of his class, a leader in school activities, and must have a good character. Five percent of the junior class and fifteen percent of the senior class are picked each year to represent their class. TWO YEAR MEMBERS Carol Burrows, Susan Rhodes, Mr. Finnessy, Adviser, Alice Talbott, Linda Burgoon. 62 STUDENT COUNCIL D. Kockler, President, J. Oszustowicz, Vice President, J. Wilcox, Secretary, T. Ault, Treasurer. The Student Council of Otto-Eldred Junior-Senior High School is active in assisting and directing different projects throughout the school year. Under the able direction of Mr. Finnessy as their advisor, the council holds regular meetings where applications for different school activities are presented and acted upon. This insures a smooth running activity program for the school. Each year just prior to the Christmas vacation the council carries out a clothing drive. The members then pack the clothing and forward it to needy people. The council has been active in providing supervision for the lunch hours in the cafeteria. The administration, faculty, and student body are appreciative of the time and effort put forth by this group of students. FIRST ROW: T. Ault, M. Farrell, P. Bishop, W. Johnston. SECOND ROW: W. The Otto Horn staff has worked under the capable direction of Mrs. Regis. The paper is published every two weeks and keeps us abreast of local school news and through its special features presents the news of national and international interest. There is continued hurry and scurry to get the assignments in on time, to make sure the correct grammar and spelling is ever presented. Special art work on the covers presents the current holiday or a special activity in the school calendar. All are justly proud of the high quality of reporting and writing found in our school paper. 64 Mrs. Regis, Adviser OTTOCRAT BUSINESS STAFF SEATED: N. Kennemuth. STANDING: J. Howell, J. The business staff of the Ottocrat worked in cooperation with business in the immediate area to bring about this edition of the 1969 Ottocrat. Under the experienced supervision of Mr. Duff, his staff traveled to surrounding areas to solicit patronage for our yearbook. Donations obtained from these persons contributed to the payment of publishing costs. With Mr. Aiken's competent guidance, the production staff has endeavored to produce a unique yearbook. Meeting their own deadlines, each member gave of his time and efforts to make this year's book a success. 66 OTTOCRAT PRODUCTION STAFF F. Duff. D. Kockler, J. Van Epps, C. Schwab, A. Talbott, T. Glenn Aiken directs over sixty percent of the Otto-Eldred student body in the six different choruses. The Senior Mixed Chorus performs for the community and for the student body. The Girls Chorus presented the Christmas Concert and travelled to Sena-Kean Manor to sing for the patients. The Male Chorus perform for different groups throughout the area. Their travel takes them into New York as well as in Pennsylvania. The members of the Junior High Choruses perform for the student body and participate in the yearly concert presented in the latter part of April. Members of the Senior High Choruses participate in the County, District and State events. Members of the Ninth Grade Chorus represent the school as members of the McKean County Junior High Festival. Head Majorette Kristan Marrone 71 Autumn brings with it cool, crisp air and colorful, exciting football games, punctuated by the excellent half-time shows given by O-E's marching band. The snappy drills along with spirited jazz songs make each routine a thrill to watch. Not only do the band members present half-time shows, but also they take part in many summer parades and activities. Throughout the school year, many band members participate in county, district, and state wide festivals. A great deal of rhythm and talent is necessary and these are cultivated during many hours of serious rehearsals. The evidence of this practice is heard in the concerts presented during the year. The bands are, without question, organizations that deserves the pride of our student body. 72 SENIOR BAND FLUTES: Jeanne Gage Marjorie Gage Kathryn Hardes Kristan Marrone Cynthia Mason Pamela Shoff CLARINETS: Marcia Bacha Kay Corbin Becky Curtin Janet Howell Joyce Jackson Susan Johnson Cynthia Layfield Vicki Mason Martha Rhodes Diane Stoughton Diane Walther Jamie Wilcox BASS CLARINETS: Lynn Bennett Peggy Walker OBOES: Marjorie Bishop Kathleen McCann Deborah Sullivan Amy Todd BASSOONS: Linda Burgoon Brenda McGee Mary Jane Todd SAXOPHONES: Kathleen Emerson Jean Hungiville Marlene Jordan Trudy Stahlman Amy Stroup TRUMPETS: Thomas Ault Griffith Bell David Causer Greg Finnessy Lisa Housler Pamela Irons Steve Kellogg Glenn Palmer David Sennett John Todd FRENCH HORNS: Elaine Cawley Christy Geuder Lois Harrison Susan Leffler TROMBONES: Cleveland Shields David Wilcox BARITONES: Thomas Allen Karen Brown Jerome Wolcott SOUSAPHONES: Lynne Aiken Thomas Hungiville David Palmer PERCUSSION: Ronald Bacha Stephen Gage George Rhodes Becky Shay Rudolph Snow MAJORETTES: Patricia Curtin Pamela Irons Cynthia Layfield Kristan Marrone Pamela Shoff COLORGUARDS: Laura Higley Judith Keator Nancy Larson Susan Rhodes Marcia Wilcox BANNER BEARERS Marjorie Bishop Kathleen McCann DIRECTOR: Norman J. It's goal is to stir an interested in competitive sports such as basketball, volley-ball, and badminton. Upon obtaining two points in any one sport, a member is presented with a blazer and the G. A. A. emblem. This blazer signifies her accomplishment and is a highlight of every girl's high school career. This association builds up their funds by sponsoring record dances after the football and basketball games and by selling school sweatshirts. This money is put toward the purchase of the blazers and necessary athletic equipment. 78 VARS 0. FIRST ROW. Mr. Fazio. J. Oszustowicz. T. Hanks. Treasurer. R. Wilber. Vice President; F Lawrence. The 1968 football squads of Otto-Eldred High School fulfilled all preseason predictions made by the football personnel of the area. Credit must be given not only to the team but also to Mr. Fazio and his capable assistants. Through their guidance and hard work our teams have developed into fine organizations. Good sportsmanship and fair play were exhibited by each member of the team. The managers also played a valuable role in the football activities of this season. This entire organization deserves much credit for their combined efforts throughout the season. Without a doubt, these young men fulfilled their chosen duties.
