W c Study Social, Political, Economic T rencls THE WORLD we live in, govern- mental procedure and organization, America and her role in world leader- ship, trends in modern history, eco- nomics, individual behavior, and ac- tivities of society - collectively and individually, are among the areas of study for OTHS students in social science courses. To make us aware of the problems and complexities that confront us in the postwar world, we study social and political trends in world history, United States history, modern his- tory, consumer economics and sociol- ogy. Newspapers, movies, and field trips supplement the texts, relating our studies to the everyday headlines. TOHl0l'1'0VV'S citizen becomes aware of the world in which he lives. Nui sing, teovhing professions are studied by two Ultmro 1 lubs FUTURE NURSES' Club, an club, is open to juniors and seniors, although some freshmen and sopho- mores may supplement it. Under the sponsorship of Mrs. Frances McMil- lan, UTHS nurse, the club members visit various nursing schools. Repre- sentatives of nursing: schools talk before the club about their particular school's curriculum. Also, nurses in different fields, such as industry, grade school, public nursing and pri- vate nursing, explain their different duties and responsibilities. 1956-57 OTTAWA Future Teachers Club became a member of the Nation- al Association of Future Teachers of America. In afliliating with this na- tional organization they adopted the name S. Isabella Sanders for their club. Under the direction of Mr. Jewell Berrier, and Miss Mary R. LeMay. club sponsors, the Future Teachers visited classes in Uentral school.
