edlcatlon NOW that you vc seen the dramatlc PIOVILW Act I of our llterarv drama we ask you to pause fox 1 moment before Il1OV1llg' on to the four acts yet to be presented The staff of the 1956 Senlor helewnth d6d1Cdt9S thls volume to Mr and Mrs John L Hoff falthful and undelstandlng members of the OTHS faculty dullng all but the fllst decade of th1s century Death ended the teachlng careers of both durmg the filst semester of the 1955 56 school year Sterlmg performances were thelr flatly routine MR AND MRS JOHN L HOFF served as membexs of the Ottawa Townshlp Hxgh School faculty for 47 and 36 vears respectlvclx Yet not one dav of those collec tlVC 83 vears of servlce was a matter of routme to the Hoffs For them each moment was one of devotlon to teenagers Each moment was cheerfully coulteouslv and wlsely spent Graduated from OTHS ln 1904 John Hoff began hlS teachmg career ln Seneca that fall One year later he Jolned the Ottawa staff F1 om then untll hls death on December 10 1955 Mr Hoff was one of the dearest and most loyal fuends of Ottawas young people Most of those youngsters remember hlm as the blg hearted plane geometry the Ottawa music groups Muslc was probably Mr Hoff s first love He spent endless hours trylng to brmg an appreclatlon of musxc to Ottawa s youth All lemember the vlgor and the enthuslasm with which Mr Hoff led the student bodv ln the slngmg of Pep which was the creatxve explesslon of hls loyal support of all Pnate actlvltles Rlva Bane Hoff first Jomed the OTHS faculty m 1911 seven yeals befole the Hoffs were marrled Durmg her 36 years at OTHS Mrs Hoff mamtamed a steadfast devotlon to the Instruction of art Lagerly she shared her artlstlc talents wlth he1 school her church and her commumty Also she played a leadlng part ln the estab llshment and growth of OTHS art collectlon In the decade befole her death on November 9 1955 Mrs Hoff won student and commumty acclalm for the tradltlonal Chrlstmas scenes her classes depleted ln the wmdows of the mam entrance Moreover Mrs Hoff was devoted to her famlly She was the constant companlon of her husband ln each of his daily endeavors The falth the Hoffs had ln people as well as then loyalty to them has enshrlned them ln the hearts and mlnds of thelr students thelr fellow workels thelr many Ottawa frxends I I 1 y 5 x I I ' .
