1.- JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY lin I Although this Year Book is primarily concerned with the class of '22 it would certainly not be complete without at least a passing mention of the peppy class of,'23. I have had the responsibility of cnumerating a few facts about this class thrust upon me, and I am at a loss to know how to express my views in such a compact article. , Two fyears ago last September we entered the sacred portals of the Ottawa Township High School for the first time. We were probably as Hfreshl' as any Freshmen fexcept the present onesb have ever been. Gradually, however, we became more sophisti- cated, and by the time that spring had rolled around considerable activity among certain members of the class was noticeable. With semester exams. the school year ended, and the class of '23 was bap- tized as full fledged Sophomores. The next September found us once more in the old stand, but now we were organized under the able direction of Miss Baldwin, with the following results: President ....................... Leonard Logan Vice-President . . . .... Robert Bradshaw Secretary . ., .... ..... H erbert Wiley Treasurer ...................... Daphine Herrick Socially We developed somewhat, and the annual Sophomore party was given, and declared by all present an unqualified success. There were the ever-present stunts, dancing, refreshments and other entertainments for the class to gaze upon or participate in. The stunts were very good Cfor a class partyj, and all of the Jun- iors and seniors seemed to enjoy them. There were couple of plays and a couple of vaudeville acts. Dancing was the main feature of the evening. The eats consisted of ice cream, cake and balloons. The latter were by far the most important. We dispersed once more in June to enjoy again a three months' vacation. We are now down to the present school year. We came back in September and found ourselves dignified Juniors. We were not now parceled out among a flock of teachers, but we all assembled in No. 302 under the vigilant eye of Miss Wilson. The class soon organized and the following officers were elected: President ........................ Leonard Logan Vice-president . . . ..... Eugene West Secretary ........... , ................ John Jobst Treasurer ...................... David Bradford During October various members of the class busied themselves preparing for the annual Junior party. The committees Worked very 511.-ni.-1.ptI.ini.lippiqgi-li..-l.1qpi..1nl1'u-up-.uniglin-. ligrggilgiggilli inigpigpin- Ip11lin1nip.1gl1lq1n-:sill1gI1ql1lu-nll1n1:l:n1.gl1ul1n1ln11:1u

The members of this orchestra were Albert La Velle, Harold Wiley, Oscar Kaiser, Harley White, Paul Baxter and Addison Gerding. One of the main features of any and all class parties is the stunts, This party was particularly fortunate in having many excellent stunts. To begin the stunt program Lowe1l's famous poem, The Oourtin',H was given in the auditorium. While the crowd still assembled here a burlesque edition of Paul Reverc's Ridew was -presented. Upon the crowd again assembling in the gymnasium the orches- tra started and dancing began. After a coup'e of dances came the big stunt of the evening. This was a real burlesque on a girls' game of basketball. The boys taking part were dressed in the latest layouts, including several layers of paint and powder. Chuck Ingham, as referee, was confronted by a real job in managing this tribe'of wildcats. The play became so rough that at times a doctor was required, and Leo Thompson ably took the part. The game itself was a heterogeneous combination of football and basketball. Little Johnny Jobst captained one side, and Brickl' Farrell the other. Fairy was particularly amusing as he called time out to powder his nose, and a few other tricks like this. An excellent minstrel show was also given in the gymnasium by a number of boys and girls. Another good stunt was a terrible trip through a tunnel. The wind tunnel of the high school's ven- tillation system was utilized to present a unique group of surround- ings for the terrified traveler. There were corpses, skeletons, elec- tric shocks, ghosts and demons to greet you and urge you on your way Ca little more haste was perhaps present after encountering one of thesej. Dancing was the main feature of the evening and continued until a late hour, when the eats committee passed around the glad word that the eats were ready. Excellent refreshments were served, and we again congratulate the committee. Taking everything together the party was a great success. Ask about half the Seniors and Sophomores if it wasn't, and see what they say. The hardest part of an article is the ending. In concluding this one I should like to state that I believe the class of '23 is going to be able to fill their niche as Seniors next year with great aptitude. As Seniors watch our smoke. -DAVID BRADFORD. ,P -nn.-nn-un-Il-.n-n-n.-gu.-un-up-4nu...-my-.un-nnununu.uns.-I-gg.-ug-gg-.gg-.uman-n-n-n-
