And there are 12 seniors on the squad-eight of whom are starters Cseven are lettermenl --four in the backfield and four on the line. Tonight, however, there is a big challenge looming qn the Green Arrows' schedule. And Niedermeier knows it. We'll know for sure after to- night, says the young mentor now in his fifth season at the suburban school. The opposition will be the defending champions of the Seaway Conference, Gibson- burg, and the game will be played on Coach Herb Red- ding's home grounds. three. And Redding, the Class A grid coach of the year sev- eral seasons back, is nobody's fool on the gridiron. Our offense wasn't too good against Lakota, says Norm.: The club had a stout de- fense. Our offensive was much better against Whiteford. The score was only 8-0 at halftime, but then the boys came through. Niedermeier calls Glenn Rudy his No. 1 ball player. Rudy, a 5-9, 160-pound senior, plays one of the halfback slots. Offensive1y, he's our best runner, passer and punter, while he also plays a real de- fense, says the Ottawa Hills mentor of the lad. Two outstanding linemen have been Bush Bailey, a 115- pound guard and Bill Potter, whose 165-pound frame holds down the center of the line at center. Both are seniors. 'I04 BBIIS This year the Y-Teens tried something new, and divided into two separate clubs. The freshman and sophomore Y-Teens, and the iunior and senior club completed many activities individually, such as making mums and shakers for the games. The two clubs merged successfully to sponsor such func- tions as the Installation Tea in the fall, the winter dance, Snowman Swing, and a Christmas party for the deaf children. The club as a whole participated in the annual Area Y-Teen dance. Sandy Smith, the energetic presi- dent of the senior club, was the dance chairman. The Y-Teens, separate and consolidated, had an active and rewarding year. L. Mehring, J. Donahue, J. Black, L. Belknap, L. Morehead, P. Gilbert, S. Smith, B. Tasch, M. Miller, J. Loughran, D. Without their cooperation, however, we could not have compiled this book for you. Thanks must go first to the teachers, who have patiently allowed us to interrupt their classes for activity pictures. Thanks also to Dr. David Katchka for lending us his camera and to the Leonard Farmers for letting us use their home for picture-taking. Without the hard work of the business staff, headed by Graeme Bell and Miss Wygant, you would not have this book in your hands now. The money they raise from advertising, subscriptions, and patrons is the only thing that allows us to incorporate the best features in our annual. The staff should be commended for its fine work. I personally would like to thank the staff members, who worked hard to meet deadlines and who dreamed up the novel features that make the 1962 Mesasa one of the best yet. And last, but not least by any means, thank you to Mrs. Houck for her help and encouragement in this production. MW 'I6 WW Dwyw W M 1 , 1 I J 1 v . I U . .,. n J 1.1L J?
