Our several choruses, the Boys' and Girls' Choruses and the more select Mixed Chorus and ensembles have again, under the excellent direction of Mr. Carl Snyder, made this a wonderful year for music. They have performed beauti- fully in both concerts and contests. This is the first year that every chorus mem- ber has been garbed in a robe. This change has served a double purpose in im- proving the appearance of the choruses and also in inspiring each member to do his best. It is due to the remarkable ability and talent of Mr. Snyder that our choruses have not been mediocre, but certainly outstanding. BOY EMBLE Front Row: J. Budden, J. Nopper, 'D. Black, J. Howard, B. This spring our new track was put to good use by the girls as well as the boys. The girls had two track meets, one, a large, six-school meet at Maumee High School, and the other on our own track with Perrysburg. No great honors were won at either meet, but the team had fun practicing and feels confident that it will have more success next year. ASEB LL P. Carver, B. Overmeyer, Joan Ulmer, S. Moore, D. Queens from two other schools participating in the meet were also present for the festivities but we all felt that jill stole the show! This year, with the culmination of our first real track season, a new tradition was started at Ottawa Hills. On May 13 at 8:00 in the evening the Varsity Club sponsored a track meet among Elmore, Lakeside, North Baltimore, and Ottawa Hills. Queens were chosen from Elmore, Lakeside, and Otta- wa Hills, who at intervals in the meet presented awards to the winners of the individual events. The highlight of the meet took place when Jill Ingels awarded Captain Ed Hamway with Ottawa Hills' first track trophy for Winning the Seaway League Night Relay Meet. We hope that the winning of this award will also become a tradition at O.H. fLeft:j The candidates from the Juniorand Senior classes were respectively Sue Pilhfant and Julie Bower. fBelow:j Track Coach, Mr. Mike Shatusky, and Captain Ed Hamway display our first track trophy. 'I6'I SPRING C0 CERT QLeft:j The huge success of the concert was due to the tremendous efforts - put forth by Molly Wil- liams and Casey Taylor, the co-chairmen. Sharon Marks was also a co- chairman but was a little camera shy. QRight:j Up to the last minute Mr. Snyder work- ed with the choruses to make sure everything was sounding the way it should. The mixed chorus ,, may have had to put in extra prac- tice time but it cer- W tainly was worth it. This year's concert, titled Anchors Away,', carried through the theme of an imaginary voyage starting out from jamaica. On this voyage the sailors met the famous Cap- tain Neptune who told them all about Noah and his Ark, Jonah and the whale, and several other favorite sea stories. By the end of the program the sailors were safely returned to Jamaica. Mother Goose and her famous brood, portrayed by l35 girls from grades 7 through l2, brought to the enthusiastic audience the world of fantasy through fashion. Pam Lumm, Sharon Marks, Carol Hardgrove, Pam Fowler, and Renny Bourne, coordinators of Fantasy in Fashion, believed that through the medium of a nursery rhyme book, the audi- ence's 'imagination would transport them to the land of fantasy.
