We think she liked us so much that she hated to leave us This is really a year to be remembered! Susie Kost and Margie Fuller came. Remember Margie s long curls3 Who can forget the wars that started that year3 Our newcomers were the cause. The girls in our class are very changeable. One day they were all on Margie s side, and the next day they were for Susie. Ho hum! Vicki Rudy came back this year after being in California She brought with her the game of Horse We wonder how many girls went home minus their belts from using them for reins'-3 We also played Nurse this year around the sandbox ohnny Hill was the fa vorite patient but the other boys were cured too The Silly Second Graders Dear Diary june I 947 This year we had a teacher with multi colored hair Who can ever forget Miss Par tridge'-5 She was by far the most generous teacher with grades This year a funny looking girl with wire rimmed glasses came She said her name was Connie Fox Another girl came too Her name IS Donna Kay Gallup The two became inseparable buddies Al ready we have more girls than boys' lm West s favorite drink seems to be glue' l-le had almost a bottle every day Now we ve been promoted to the upper ranks of the grade school The Thrilled Third Graders Dear Diary une 1948 Boy did our class grow this year' We Finally acquired some more BOYS and girls Tom Tenney Paul Reichert and two rather chubby boys little Bobby l-llnkle and big ohnny Davis were the new male additions Pig tailed Bonnie Beler and Helen Arthur Joined us also Didn t we think they were queer at first3 Do you recall how Connie Ellen and Donna used to sit on the swings watching the boys play soccer and drool over Paul RClChCft3 This year the Brownies presented a play Mrs Noodle and her Little Dog Poodle Mrs Wuerfel helped make this great production possible Gee did the audience gasp when the tree fell down' ln the middle of the year we walked into Mrs I-larr s room and there sat another girl Gayle McBride When the end of the year came Mrs Harr decided to give us up so she sent us on our merry way to the fifth grade The Fussy Fourth Graders Dear Diary func I949 Mrs Beachler was surely nice to us this year We liked her too so we bought her a watch for Christmas One thing we didn t like about this year however was the horrible arithmetic oan Daven port was astonished by the subtraction problems on the board when she joined our class Doris Dlckler and she were the only additions to our class D D had such an Eastern accent The girls were such tom boys ln school beating the boys in soccer but when Saturday night came they donned their frilly frocks for dancing school Miss Bollinger always looked so happy when we arrived Our favorite trick this year was having a birthday every two months so we could pick a partner for the grand march The girls flew up this year to become Girl Scouts but the boys still remained Cubs The Famous Fifth Graders Dear Diary une I 950 Why is it that the teachers like our class so welli Mrs Harr moved up to teach us again just like Miss Bramble did Studying mythology and human relations drawing pictures on sheets knitting and publishing the Tomahawk were our academic activities The boys were the best knltters but Sue Hard grove almost went into business she knitted so many shawls Hugh Laughlin and Tom Yamm came this year bring with them their great aptitudes for business They inspired us to collect tax stamps We brought in so many that we gave the school a beautiful radio phonograph Kay Alpaugh also came this year increasing the number of females The girls again became active in dramatics and presented Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Addie portrayed Dopey so well! Mrs Harr shed many tears as she waved good bye and promoted us to the seventh grade The Swell Sixth Graders . 1 . . 1 1 u n ' - - - . U If I! ' J n 9 9 - . 9 1 . .- 0 o - - as - n , . . . . at camp we reluctantly trudged back to school There we found schedules waiting for us telling us when to change classes and go over to the high school for home ec and shop We really felt old' We ll never forget the day that Gayle fell asleep ln study hall and the whole class tlp toed out She was so surprlsed when Mr Gray woke her up and she was all alone One of the many escapades of the girls was leavmg Ginnie stuck ln the wastebasket and going on to class What a panic' Our Christmas party was really great Connie Sue Addie and Marty sang l Wore My Pink Pajamas and Mary McNerney and Tom Longenecker pantomlmed Goofus Uncle Ty Wilson was looking at the world through rose colored glasses at that party ln the sprmg we came to school equipped with slam books We re afraid there were a few hurt feelings' Our class has now a few more brains' Pete Sinclair and Diane Rasmussen who talkedsofastwecouldn tunderstandher jolned the ranks Paul Buggs Hartman and tall dark and handsome Tom Pemberton also came We regretfully left the elementary school never becoming the blg wheels that we had hoped to be But next year we wlll be the first eighth grade class ln the high school' The Sad Seventh Graders Dear Diary unc l952 We have just completed our first year ln the high school building It was really a year' Lucy Mather and Melinda Mewborn were there to greet us on the first morning We certainly felt lost that day' As the year progressed we became more at home in the high school We took a few educational trips We went to the Blade and the Libbey Owens Glass Company We also made a full day s excursion to Greenfield Village It seems that some of the girls got lost ln one of the old basements' They had quite a story to tell on the bus commg home AllCla Klrkman and Pattl Steinberg came ln the middle of the year They qulckly fell into the swing of things AllCla picked up our knack for gosslpmg so qulckly that Mr Dllle caught her talklng ln class the first day He seemed to have eyes ln the back of his head' We ended the year without graduation and are lookmg forward to belng real members of the high school next year The Exceptional Eighth Graders Cool Cool Drary june l953 Man thus was a real hep year' Twelve crazy cool cats joined our class We already knew Mimi Linda Betsy Fem and Joel but Nancy Emma joe Fritz Stan Bob and Tom Rembolt were really green We really dug into the actrvltxes The All School Play was dominated by freshmen The Curxous Savage was the greatest' Marty had such trouble getting up nerve to kiss ohn on the forehead and Mimi was certainly a not when she spouted off her lines The gurls all came to school wearing their new jewelry this fall They were always having slumber OD parties but somehow the boys managed to come too At Christmas time stuffed animals were all the rage for girls and the boys received pegged pants Exams came as a blow to us we found we weren t the scholars we thought ourselves to be However to celebrate their completion quite a few of us took a round trip bus rude disturbing everyone with our harmonious singing Seven dollars were added to our treasury by our dance Stardust It was the most to say the least' Having made a success of one dance we tried our luck at another Thus the Bunny Hop was presented to climax a wonderful year The Fabulous Freshmen Dear Diary june l954 Our sophomore year will never be forgotten We really showed our splrlt by sponsorlng many buses and challenging class played varsity basketball M V lost three of her students when Donna Cohen Judy Williams and lm West were acquired by our class jim had been with us ln our early elementary years Our geometry classes will always be remembered especially when we had the birthday parties for Mrs Humphrey Also remembered are the days and nights we spent workmg on our biology term papers for Mr Parsons They were certainly a struggle to complete but we feel that we leamed a lot Our Talent Night added a great deal of money to our already rich treasury We re sure to have enough to give a tremendous Prom next year The Sophisticated Sophomores Dear Diary june l955 We lost one of the members of the Kindergarten Klub Pat Roberts who transferred to Emma Willard but we gained Gretchen Klein udy Stem Dave Wemert and oe Starntt Lynne Studer and Dan Henderson came in the middle of the year Our chemlstry classes this year resembled our sophomore geometry classes Poor Mr lgley we really gave hum a rough time' Our class got together and worked hard to sponsor three buses to the Grosse lle game A great time was had by all on the junior bus When sprmg vacation came many of us left to vlslt colleges The last two months of this year were spent work mg on the Prom Thanks Mrs Meeks and Mr Bolbach for all your help' Who can ever forget when the band struck up with Davy Crockett Debble had a coketanl party beforehand and Mimi held a wild party afterwards Playing Spun the milk bottle seemed to be the mam attraction Graduation IS just over and now we realize that next year we too will be leavmg the halls of lvy The joyful juniors Dear Diary june I956 It s all over now but the memories Having completed thirteen years we find that thirteen of our classmates Caroline Carol Tom Debbie Sue Ellen Sarah Clnme Dave Harry Marshall Addie and John have been with us since kinder garten Also 1n our first days of school were Phil Vicki and lm who left then came back Certainly our many years at O H will never be forgotten To quote Mr Brown we might say that this has been the best year ever ay Barton our southem gentleman came bringing with hmm many games for our notous T G l T parties Molly Mclver skip a year to join our neat class and Mary McNemey came back from a girls school We can t say enough about our wmnmg football season This IS the first time this has happened while we ve been ln high school Our hats are off to our new coaches Mr Drake and Mr Kreutzfeld Our cheerleaders looked great this year too especially the new male additions Henry Dan and Stan We have excelled in leadership and scholarship Phil was not only president of our Student Council but also of the Area unxor Council on World Affairs Diane Dave and Stan have always been so smart They really gave us competition ln performing our good solid scholarship for Mr Barber Mr Sattler surely scared us at times with his extemporaneous themes but we ve heard they ll be good for college next year There were many moments of anxiety as we waited for our college acceptances The senior play was a huge success and was shortly followed by a memorable Prom and graduation Many tears were shed as we walked down the aisle in our caps and gowns We can never forget our happy days at Ottawa Hills and we hope our alma mater wrll always remember us The
