By the tlme she arr1ved upstalrs to punlsh h1m however all l1fe had dlsappeared and the culprxt was never apprehended Remember the tunes 1n the lower grades when we used to play socker at noon after school and 1n fact any trme we could? Remember when Ilnny and Dottle used to f1ght over Dave Shaffer and would cry brtter tears 1f they weren t chosen on h1s team? The dog used to take turns one day hnny would be the chosen the next day Dottle Remember 1n the seventh grade when the gxrls and do you remember how mad she was when she came back 1n the room and found everyone yelllng at everyone else? Under the guidance of its able instructor Mr. I. R. Bogan the driving classes of both semesters leamed the delicate art of commanding an automobile. The Arrows posted a 5-4 record in beating their two tradi- tional rivals, Holland and Maumee Valley. Reaping some fundamentals from the two-year reign of Coach lack Parsons, who was ably assisted by Coach 1.ee Dimon, the OH contingent proved to be a formidable opponent for all encountered elevens. After a poor start, the team gained momentum and piled up four straight victories before bowing to Anthony Wayne in the finale. At the end ot the season, the team elected Ioe Duffey and Rocky Furst as honorary co-captains, while Ronnie Means was selected as the tea:m's most valuable substitute. Further laurels were added as All-MVI. selec- tions included Rocky Furst, lst team back: Bill Mercer, Bruce Iohnson, Tommy Klein, 2nd team line: and Ioe Duffey, Honorable Mention, back. The loss of Bob Fraser and Dave Shaffer during various times of the sea- gszn, greatly hampered the Arrows' chances of furthering their victory ein. 0.1-1.1-l.S. .........,........ 6 CLAY ..................... 37 The Clay game found a green OH team with a broken-finger quarter- back, thwarted within the 10 yard line four times in the first half. After this demoralizing period, Clay rolled up a huge lead for its victory. The lone OH score caxne on a S0 yard pass play from Dave Mebane to Rocky Furst in the 3rd quarter. Stellar defensive play of Bob Fraser was mentionable in a disappointing opener. O.1'1.H.S. .................. 14 DELTA . ............,...... 38 OH saw foreshadowing of a great upset as the Arrows played to a 14-l2 lead over the fine Delta team at half-time. But powerful Delta ran through the OH team like water in the 2nd half, due 1 ely to far superior reserve strength. Ioe Duffey scored both OH toucsgdowns in a fine performance on runs of 85 and 69 yards. 0.H.H.S. .................. 20 HOLLAND .........,....... 6 This game saw the Arrows beat Holland for the first time in five years. Hank Morris provided the offensive spark as he exploded for two t.d.'s to give the Arrows a 13-6 half-time edge. The Arrows pushed over another tally in the third quarter as Don l-leydt scored with Dave Shaffer adding the extra point to give the Arrows their first victory of the new season. The entire OH line, ably backed by Fraser and Iohnson, rose up as a defensive Gibraltar. 0.1-l.H.S. ,.... ............ , 0 SWANTON .,.............. 6 This was a tough one to lose. Our boys would get inside the 20 yard line only to be penalized. Over 130 yards were assessed against our team in penalties, The Swanton club pushed over a 3rd quarter touch- down and then held on to their 6 point lead as time ran out with the Arrows on the Swanton ten yard line. Memories from this game must include at horrible bone crushing tackle by Bob Fraser and a fine defensive performance by the center of the OH line, Hamway and Meckler. OH led at half-time 19-6 on two touchdown passes from Furst to Klein and a lZ yard run by Ronnie Means. DeV'tlbiss cmne back strongly and scored three limes in the second half. Behind 24-19, the Green and White offensive started functioning with precision as Hank Morris scoredwith 2V2 minutes left. to win the ball game. Again Mercer, Iohnson, and Fraser, with the help of Diemel, Hamway. mid Meckler led the defensive parade. The season seemed about one week too long as the boys trudged through seven inches of snow in their last week of practice sessions.
