In short. he is the personification of the non-existent average Ottawa high school student. The various small ensembles sang for school and city or- ganizations and upheld the good reputation of the O. H. S. music department. The instrumental department guided by the experienced hand of Hazen L. Richardson lived up to all expectations and turned in another excellent season during 1949-50. The marching band added color and pep to the home football games and also took part in the Band clay cele- bration at the University of Kansas. The orchestra was equally active. Providing music for the junior and senior plays and accompanying the mixed chorus in the l'Holy City were two of its accom- plishments. The Christmas assemblv was presented by the orchestra with the assistance of the mixed chorus and girls' glee club. The Lawrence and Atchison ex- change festivals and the annual spring concert were the final activities ot' the orchestra before commence- ment.
