JUNIOR-SENIOR PROM What a grand time it was, with everybody buzzing around trying to get the theme of our prom. Yes, everybody was interested. But we juniors kept it pretty well to our- selves until the exciting night of May 14, 1954. The juniors hold this wonderful event to one of the most important affairs in their high-school years. What fun we had decorating the gym and the cafeteria of our new school for this big occasion. Miss Stauffer, our junior advisor certainly must have been glad when it was over. But now to get to the big night! We started the evening with a banquet for the faculty, seniors, and juniors. The mothers of the juniors served a delicious dinner of chicken on biscuits, with creamed peas, a beautiful relish, hot rolls, a perfection salad and milk. The dessert was out of this world, cherry pie alamode. After the dinner the program began with the invocation by Mr. Quaintance which was followed by the welcome given by Sara Wilkinson, junior class president. joAnn Pargeon, senior class president gave the response. Four junior girls, Bonnie Buckland, Shelby McAllaster, Barbara Hamilton and Marilyn Andrews sang How Deep Is The Oceanf followed by a duet given by joAnn and Phyllis Pargeon. Their number was Garden In The Rainf' Miss Ruth C. Frey served as our speaker for the evening. The dance started at 9:00 p.m. in our auditorium. When the guests entered the gym, the expressions and comments made us feel very good. The decorations consisted of a garden lawn outlined with white rocks. Young blossomed trees were the background for a tall lattice work entwined with American beauty roses. Bird baths were donned with flowers also. Decorated card tables were crowded around with fellows and gals with the prettiest gowns and suits ever. The back drop was of navy blue with silver stars. A big golden moon shone through the blue which was all very romantic. You have probably guessed the theme of our prom by now, but if you haven't it was In My Carden. , The Aristocrats from Bowling Green furnished the music for the dance. About 12:00 everyone got tired of dancing so we left the gym and went to the parties given by several junior girls. We were all glad to end a wonderful, exciting evening and retire to our own homes and sleep. Yes, it was a lot of fun and we are looking forward to next yearis prom!
