______ TiAAl Marvin A. Russel We, the 1984 Thunderbolt staff, would like to dedicate the yearbook to Mr. Marvin Russel. Thank you for the eleven years of unselfish and devoted service. We will all miss you greatly. We appreciate all you have done and wish you the best of luck with all your future endeavors. Ottawa-Glandorf High School 630 Glendale Avenue Ottawa, Ohio 45875 Thunderbolt 1984, Volume 20 Titans Excel Throughout The Year The 1983-1984 school year was one that all of us will look back on and cherish. The memories that were given to us in our senior year are all our own special memories. They may be of your big moment on stage, in a game or meet, or just those shared with friends, but together they brought us closer into a united class. We also look back on the years and experiences that brought us up to our final year. Freshman year made us a little shy and scared, but it also brought us new experiences and friends as our three schools joined into one. Sophomore year took away some of that shyness and replaced it with school spirit, making us more daring. Then in our junior year we were full of the feeling that we were almost at the end. We came together and cooperated to run the concession stand and build a beautiful prom. Finally our Senior year! The end of one road, but just the beginning of another. One that may seem easier for some, but harder for others to travel than the one just encountered. We were full of excitement, joy, and other emotions as we experienced the feeling of leadership that our final year gave us. Our Sr. Musical, last prom, last homecoming, and graduation ceremony are all events that made this year complete. We shall always cherish these memories! The Thunderbolt staff hopes that the 1984 Thunderbolt will be a cherished possession that will make you recall these memories each time you leaf through its pages. We cherish the memories we hold from the past. Remembering them helps make our friendships last. Our classmates and friends, who never let us down. It's hard to believe they won't always be around. Our school spirit shown as we cheered on our teams. We showed our support with our yells and our screams. Bleacher Creatures, we loved you. You guys got so wild. With all your crazy cheers, even Coach Sweet smiled. The band's many practices paid off quite well. By the smile on Lou's face, his pride you could tell. Together we prayed and wished Kevin all the best. Hoping to see him in school soon with all the rest. Soundwaves blasted to make Homecoming a joy, Providing a good time for each girl and boy. “Fiddler on the Roof, we did as our class play. Although it was work, friendships were made that won't sway. The Juniors worked hard on the prom to show they cared. Giving us a romantic evening meant to be shared. But now they are just memories to cherish and hold. To remain in our hearts, the colors brilliant and bold. — Mary A. Ellerbrock — 16 Seniors Seniors Make Their Final Year Memorable The 1984 Senior Spirits (right) were from left to right: Bob Ricker. The moments will always be cherished in our hearts. The time was spent working on our Homecoming float, which earned a second place. Our biggest event, prom, was one of the best proms ever. The prom theme was A Romantic Evening in Camelot . These activities united our Junior class and we look forward to sharing one more year together. Teamwork made a successful prom. Our sophomore class proved to follow suit, with the exception of our champion JV Basketball team. They had a 16-0 season, and were WBL champs. The Sophomore class sold candles as their fund raiser, and will be using the money for their prom next year. Although their float finished third in the Homecoming Parade, the sophomores had a great time building it, and will often recall the memories of it. A freshman's year at Ottawa-Glandorf is a time for confusing schedules and classes, meeting new classmates and teachers, and learning about the demerit system, the hard way. A freshman's year is also a time of excitement as they begin their final four years of school. They ordered their class rings, attended their first high school dance and worked together to build their first float. The class of 1987's first year was characterized by the typical confusion and excitement. They met so many unfamiliar faces of the upperclassmen and were surrounded by a different environment. The class of '87 had the excitement of building a first place Homecoming float. As the school year winds down all the freshmen will recall their first year differently. Some will admit that the experience was fun while others are relieved that it's over and look forward to being Sophomores. 48 Freshmen Denis© Adair Valiamar Alfaro jerry Averesch Antonio Baldazo Leonard Barraza Bruce Beach Melissa Beckman Michelle Bensman Russ Bewsey Lori Birkemeier Gary Blair Amy Bockrath Michelle Borer Michael Borgelt Paula Brickner Kim Brinkman Stephanie Brinkman Greg Buddelmeyer Troy Butler Wendy Buffer Catherine Campbell Dennis Chamberlin •en Comer Dave Compton Mark Cornelius Tifini Cox Freshmen ao Michelle Cramer Diane Croy Maria Croy Didi Diller Scott Drew Tony Duling Greg Duling Scott Duling Steve Duling Michele Dunn Kelly Earl Randy Ebbeskotte Bradley Elliott Todd Ellerbrock Tammy Evans Beau Fawcett Amy Fort man Butch Friend Jeanne Gerding John Gray Amy Hanneman 50 Freshmen Ginger Heitmeyer Daphne Hemniller Jennifer Hi I vers Brenda Hoehn Jill Hohenbrink Linda Moorman Scott Johns Brian Jones Randy Kahle Bruce Karhoff Tina Karhoff Eric Kaufman Tony Kaufman Wendy Kaufman James Kelleher Marvin Kettels Joe Killen Jennell Kistler Terry Klass Christine Kleman Bob Kleman Theresa Korte Todd Kreinbrink Bill Krouse Joseph Kuhlman Lome Kuhlman Michelle Kuhlman Stephen Kuhlman Vicki Kuhlman Freshmen 51 Jeff Lammers Heidi Larson Ryan Lewis Leroy Lugo Mark Maag Ricky Maag Scott Maag Deana Manges David Mayhew Jon McGomnley Jeff Meyer Gerald Meyer Todd L. Speakers in various fields of interest, mind benders, college visitations, an exchange with students from Pandora-Gilboa High School, and the latest in programs for the talented and gifted made up this year's agenda. Members were selected on the basis of CTBS test scores, grade point average, and teacher evaluations of individual's creativity and motivation toward learning. Overcoming the rival team from Continental High School, the ten members of the Academic Bowl Team won the Putnam County Championship this spring. The team members are ail volunteer participants who wish to have the opportunity to pursue a level of personal study beyond the classroom. 74 Student Life Action Creates Fun! ACTION! Together we proved that as a class we could accomplish anything. In sports we proved that we indeed were winners. The senior musical was a terrific success and gave us a greater sense of the class we really were. No one can ever deny that the class of 1984 was indeed a class and could really pull together when the going got tough. It's sad to say good-bye to all our new ana old friends, but there will always be a part of us here in the halls of O-G. Thanks for making this senior year so memorable. The Seniors. Three minutes between bells just ain't enough. Smurfy friends stay in touch. Yeah, I know I'm gorgeous. Lisa just flips over school.
