McCracken Born February 11. 1963 Died April 7, 1980 AN ELEGY FOR A CLASSM ATE by Linda Kiepenhoff He wh an old an I am He was mart, gentle, and kind But he in no longer with u . My claKKmate Pat ha died. I didn't really know him But Htill I could call him friend He amiled at me when I saw him. And I'll rniaa him now and then. Hin hair it was a lovely brown His eyes, 1 think were too His smile it gleamed when it gleamed when it was shown. It could light up a darkened room. But one day while Pat was traveling. To a place not very far He was killed in a tragic accident. In his little yellow car. They say he went left of center And crossed into another man's path He was instantly killed on impact. Leaving us to feel the wrath. They buried him three days later And many tears were shed By family, friends, and classmates Who didn't want him dead. But since that day the eyes have dried And we accept that Pat is gone We realize nothing can bring him back. And our lives must go on. But that di esn't mean he won't l e missed. Or ever Ik forgotten. He'll always remain in our hearts and minds. A memory pressing us onward. CAREERS by Pal McCracken (Written for English Spring, 1980) I know not yet what I'd like to be Whether soar among the clouds Or sail the sea With its rumbling, tumbling, choppy wakes There are too many choices for Goodness sakes. I'm thinking of law It could prove to be fun After the years of college were finally done Six long years of training I'd need That's quite a time, quite lengthy indeed. I've thought of the contractor Who builds fancy houses And the money I’d make when inflation arouses I'd buy the equipment and get myself set And plan extra careful to get out of debt. I’ve often considered an engineer Who sets up equations Which to me look so queer He’s studied quite hard to earn his degree In chemistry , physics, or whatever it be. I really don't know which I’d like the best But which ever I choose Would put me to the test To see if I'd studied and learned what I should To do the job right, and do the job good. 24 Juniors Eagerly Await Final Year Junior Homeroom Representatives are: BOTTOM ROW: Patty Kaufman, Judy Smith, Amy Brinkman. 2ND ROW: Linda Riepenhoff, Lynne Hoehn, Deb Palte, Shelly Ellerbrock. 3RD ROW: John Karhoff, Scott Schroeder, Kevin Heckman, Dean Morman, Dave Smidebush. 4TH ROW: Steve Burnette and Mike Eb beskotte. 25 Gilbert Alvarez Mike Ball Evan Basinger Kevin Basinger Marsha Bendele Beth Breece Jackie Brickner Sue Bockrath I Tim Bockrath Randy Brinkman Taffy Brinkman Steve Buddelmeyer Teacher, 1 can't do any homework today; my eye hurts!
