Class History Greetings: You are to report at 9:00 A. M. , Monday, September 1 , 1943, for active duty in Otho School. These letters of notice were received by Ioyce Peterson 055389518 , Shirley Hotek 055380510 , Colleen McCarty 05289520, and Bula lean Slotten 055389521 . They entered Boot Camp , and with a little help from their parents they graduated as privates. Though never being too attached to any of their buddies , when Corporal Karen Hudson 054218341 was transferred 'from a base at Fort Dodge and Corporal Ronny Hotek 053421833 joined them, they all became friends. Arriving in time to receive their pro- motions to Buck Sergeant were Darlene Buffinton 053467439 from a base in Pocahontas , Gene Leonard 05 3679439 , formerly stationed at Coalville, Don Halligan 053548437 from a base in Fort Dodge, and Charles Volf 05343785 , Betty Vicini 053730448 , and William Swanson 0415687456, transferred from a base at Clayworks. They received their earned promotions as the years went by, and then to even it up , Lieutenant Don Ourth joined the gang from a base at Ottosen. For their last four years the thirteen buddies spent most of their time giving orders to non-commissioned officers. Retiring as Five Star Generals in May of 1956 , they will climax their careers in the service of Otho High School.

The battle of grades and fun To each we gave our time And afbout our class members We will try a little rhyme . The artist in our class Is Ronny with his long black car, He is always willing to help us , And we hope that he'l1 go far. Next in order is Shirley, The party-giving kid, Her folks are oh-so patient And never blow their lid. Another senior is Gene , A dark handsome roving lad, And he says quite often, I need the car tonight, Dad. Colleen is the truest, With short dark curly hair, And wherever her guy is , She wishes she were there . Betty never says too much About the things we do , But she is one of us, And we will miss her too. A left-handed lad is Charlie: The Plymouth car is the rage , And with Charles' blond hair A battle he does wage . Senior Poem A girl that always has a smile And boy friends by the tens Is our own classmate Darlene , With her many, many friends. A quiet friendly lad is Don, To him we give our thanks For all the times he's helped us In all our fun and pranks. Karen is our brain, She goes for men real tall: Her analysis is The taller, the harder they fall.
