In the year of 1970 we the young ClXllIZCCl lnhabltams of O H S receive our monthly African ournal To our surprlsc wc find familiar faces of the class of 57 Here are some of the articles We fmd larry Kcnt and Mike Hogan still trying to cross a hxppopotamus with a Holstein cow Results Hippo Holstein Dave Yorgensen is Instructor and Myrtle Frlesen is secretary of their agriculture department in the Con o river xalley When Carolyn Ungrad learned that her Senior cla smares were in Africa she put On quite a show for them with her trained Zebras and Kangaroos in her own Rodeo We see Coach Shirley Christensen coaching a Pigmy football team to be shipped back to Coach Thompson at O HS Manager Beverly Kirkwood is Carrying palls of water from the Amazon to the team We see Cheryl Barrie leading her powerful cheering section of Cannibals We wonder how she is making out7 Claudia Palo was hard to find but we succeeded She was seen wrestling with a member of the Ape tribe Brent Smith is teaching ballet with his assistant Bill Rasmussen to the Wakube tribe Karen Schneider and Marshall Butcher are giving vocal lessons to the plate lip Ubangi warriors lm Plant and Buzz Hjlem are directing their revised production of Karamoja starring Shirley King and Judi Cobb Carlota Lotz Marvel Cole and Dorothy Steele were found singing and dancing in the Coquilhatvill Saloon own d by Curtis Hodson who struts around with a big banana in his mouth Ar this point we hear a weird howl Elvis Chr1swell coming into view singing Don t Be Cruel with a tribe of native teen age girls following close behind Bob Vietzke and Barbara Slenker are demonstrating to the natives the advantages of a Bikini bathing suit fyrng the natives jared Hendickson and Wayne Rathbun were found happily married to two of the Chiefs daughters of the Uijij Tribe We wish them luck in many ways We find Rosemtrue King The African Queen and as her princesses we find Sherrill Martin and Vllda Nickols Walter Montgomery chauffeurs them around through the jungle rn his blue Olds convertible Berme Henshaw and Bill Haight haxe a co operation for improvement on drag strips on the Purple Plain Deep in the ivory country we find the Ford Mercury Campany run by Earl Fegert and Sid Carter Not much luck' Janie Booker is still giving demonstrations on new f1xtures only to the Bobgoozizy Tribe in Africa now Perry Holton and Barbara Scogin are discoxcrinv new elements for their own Chemistry Lab in the swamps We see Barbara Hetterle running a Power an Pow ers Pl t with the assistance of all the ltttle Latcr toward the end of our yourn y we find Eldon Blanton as a witch doctor and his eul partncr Patsy Hammer working oxer a pot of burning herbs Mayre Lou Wilcox was found with her hair dragging the ground with thc children getting frec rides on her png tails L onard Maine was mistaken for a pigmy at one time and was taken off to bc their Chief At thc end of our trail we find Deloris 'V mey telling fortunes to ld 57 OH S classmates the native can nibals and a fcw survning o Africa we see Pat Rutherford coming off the AHWCYICHU PIHUC one look around and shes ready to turn back Page 86 3 Y I 7- . .
