Drama Club I The Drama Club of Othello High School is one of our most active clubs this year It had quite a slow start but after two or three meetings the interest grew and soon the membership of the club grew also We have at the present time around 55 members e first accomplishment of the club was to elect officers The officers are President Gary Worsham Vice President DeAnna Byrnes Secretary Sharron Rowe Treasurer Sharon Olson e second item of the year was to write a constitution so tht we would be con sidered a Club of Othello High School Sue Plant was in charge of this On November 12 1956 we read and approved the constitution The main event of the year was the presentation of the first school play Harvey This school play was sponsored and put on by the Drama Club The Original date for the play was November 16 17 but due to difficulties in the cast it was postponed until December 6 7 On the 6th it was put on for the student body and that following night for the parents and the community It was then presented for the last time Friday the 7th Remarks from the students were quite favorable and I believe it was considered a success. Members of the drama club helped with the play in various ways lights makeup tickets props ect. We know without them the play couldn t have gone on. The Drama Club has also had one party this year. It was held at the house of one of our members JoAnn Petersen. Each member of the club and their date was invited. They played games danced and had refreshments. I think this party was considered a success also. So far this year the drama club has done quite well in all they have tried to do and we express our sincere thanks to our advisor, Mr. Ashen, for all he has helped us with. We hope that any of you that might be interested in the field of drama, and who do not belong to our club will join next year. Page 50
