TRACK KNEELING: Alvin Wheeler, Larry Voss, Joel Patterson, Don Clark, Herb Norris, Bill Con- don. STANDING: Coach Hasenyyager, Don Rissman, Arlo Bower, Tom King, Dick Campbell Gearald Testin. COACHES' NOTES 1954-55 has been the most successful, from the standpoint of sports, in the history of our school. Our football team was the schools first undefeated team, with 8 wins and 0 losses, and rank- ed high in the state, with 251 points scored to the opposisions' 19. Tremendous team spirit, co- operation, and good team balance resulted in this successful season. We were Fox Valley cham- pions, too, and have never finished lower than second in the last four years in our conference. Jack Walper was honored by being named to the Little All-State first team guard post. This is the first time such an honor has been achieved by an Oswegoan. Several other squad members ranked high on other all-star selections or received honorable mentions. Basketball was rather a disappointment, but the team's high point was its 63-62 win over Minooka, the school's First win over them in 14 years. Mr. Pickerill was badly overburdened with both wrestling and basketball, due to Mr. Hasenyager's bout with pneumonia and a month's absence from school. Prospects are good for next season, as only one regular, Dick Campbell, will be lost through graduation, and a marked improvemen in team play was shown the final month of the seasoon. Our wrestling team, the smallest representative in the state, took on all size schools and finished the regular season with 14 wins and 2 losses. In the sectional meet held at Elgin, three boys, Leonard Burkhart, Dave Gengler and Wayne Schillinger, won third place medals. Brad Smith a second place, and Alvin Wheeler was the sectional 103 pound champion. Alvin and Brad rep- resented our school at the state wrestling meet at Champaign and both came home State Charn- pions. Oswego finished fourth as a team in the state meet, with only two boys representing it. This is a tremendous accomplishment for any school of our size. The coaches would like to thank the boys responsible for such a successful year in athletics. This is a year we will long remember, and we hope better success is in store for your teams in the future.
