It was presented in the high school gymnasium and directed by Mrs. Budge Mead. Rodney Dodd, a healthy young man who thinks he is an invalid, and overhearing his doctor talking about a plant of his which is dying, he believes that the doctor is talking about him. He then writes to the newspaper in his hometown and releases the com- plete story of a notorious gangster. How the story turned out amazes everyone. The first important event for the year was a change of directors. Mr. Keith Fox who brought the band through the first two trying years of organization and securing uniforms, assumed a full time position at Lancaster Central School where he had been serving part-time. He was succeeded by Norman M. Guard. To start the year under a new director, the band participated in the 4-H Fair parade at Bluffton. Then they went to Indianapolis for the Band Contest parade at the State Fair. Competing with some of the largest and finest school bands in Indiana, Ossian placed 29th out of 83 bands. Next was the Bluffton Free Street Fair where the band placed 7th Qin a pouring rainj out of l3 bands participating. They also par- ticipated inthe Veteran's Day parade in Ft. Wayne. ln addition they brought Santa Claus to town by a parade December 24th, have played for all home basketball games, and Indiana Tech games at Ossian. This year varsity has shown steady improvement in the fundamentals of basketball. Two seniors and three underclassmen have borne the brunt of the action. Coach Andes is quite optimistic about the teams potential for another year. Over the past two seasons The varsity teams have suffered from lack of size and experience but the coach feels the situation will be considerably im- proved as the good crop of reserve team boys move up to loin the underclassmen of this year's varsity. This year a new plan for yell leaders was tried at Ossian. With the Varsity yell leaders we also had two Junior Varsity yell leaders. This plan worked very well.
