SEHIURS SEE SIGHTS HND SUEHERU Following the overnight trip from home we landed in Washington D. C. , we stormed the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. Ramsacked the white house, ate in the famous Speaker's Dining Room QMacArthur also ate herelg captured the Capital, and here we are, rulers of the U. S. The picture proves it. From where we sit, in this picture, we expect to walk where Washington walked at Mt. Vernon, sail the Potomac at night, view the famous Smithsonian Museurn, and other famous Washington D. C. sights. Departing from here we expect to descend upon Broadway, to sail with Henry Hudson around Manhattan, to slum in the Bowery, to jostle with the elite on Fifth Avenue, to see the Bums beat the Phillies: to travel with Ichabod Crane up the Hudson to the home of Fara and his master, to be a cadet at West Point, and to enjoy the Rockettes of Radio City, and marvel to the wonder of South Pacific. The Ossian Bears, by winning the l953 Wells County baseball championship, land previous by the '51 and '52 softball championshipsl gained permanent possession of the Vim Trophy. The club once more went through an undefeated season, aking all seven games from the county schools plus one nore from Adams Central. Many of the Bears victories were by a decidedly decisive margin. The pitchers' records were as follows: Scherrer 5 wins, Hunter Z victories, and Bryan l triumph. In hitting, Bob Geisel led with a .600 average, Glenn Bauermeister was runner-up with a .533 to his credit. The entire team hit at a .439 clip throughout the eight games played. The consensus, then, is that our Bears made an impressive and satisfactory shift back to baseball. There- fore, we're hoping for great things and looking forward to another good year in 1954.
