Semi hexf yeoJ, 1971 ORIOLE OSSEO SENIOR HIGH S CH 00L OSSEO, MINNESOTA Variety makes up the society of Osseo High School. We are all here for the same purpose, to obtain knowledge of this huge world, of which Osseo is only a minor fraction. Our library serves a dual purpose, for relaxation or study. HAPPINESS IS... DEVELOPING AN Kw EMPLOYABLE smu. As Kathy OtBrien and her friends show, five minutes between classes is enough time to exchange small talk. During the day the Osseo High School building gives the appearence of serenity and calm, but if you take a look inside itts very much the opposite. No matter what theytre doing, everyonets trying to accomplish something, whether itts just to graduate, or really try and learn something. Lesley Swan and Linda Bach pause between songs at the first dance. Everyone has their own feelings and their own way of showing them. People are individuals; they think and act for themselves. Osseo is a time and place in our lives. Experiences we have shared are those of love, joy, happiness and remem brance. One of the highlights at sports events is the Osseo Marching Band. E: E Minnesotds No. 1 football team. Everyone is involved in something. It could be a sport, the band, a club, or an- other person. Exchanging ideas, building them up, and tearing those ideas down again, all combine to make Osseo what it is - the best. Denise Hoosier greets students at the Pep Club Supply S tore. Students can always find some way to keep busy during study halls. 10 Always with people-talking, laughing, sharing memories is all part of your way of making this place more than just a building. Smiling faces, cheeful greetings make each day more bearable. It's the little things that make school interesting - pepfests, events, posters hanging on the walls, or just exchanging hihs in the halls. All of these things are a part of any school, and Osseo is no exception. A picture is worth a thousand words. National Honor Society at play. 13 Lab work combines experience with fun. Robink smile makes thejob seem easier. Osseots enrollment this year was the largest ever. It was hard adjusting to the crowded halls and classrooms, but after a while the student body got accustomed to it, and ev- eryone found his own place to think and work. If only thinking about it would get the work done! Coming back to school last fall we expected the same excite- ments, hope and despair of returning to school. Going to foot- ball games, dances, Homecoming and so on through out the year. But what made Osseo different? Every school has activities, but the people are what makes it different from the others. Why this destruction? ,X t ' dz; : H umumumm x x in M :1444' .9. We had an environmental sympos- ium, which helped us to communi- cate our feelings about the world and some of ites problems. A step towards COMMUNICATION. Styles change, places change, but people progress. One of the exciting matches that Osseo matman had in '71. Refinishing furniture demands concentration and a steady hand. Instructions from the coach. We could not tell the story if the book were not a fair representa- tion oflife at Osseo. We didnlt stay up in the annual room and waste time, or eat constantly tal- though we were good at iU instead we communicated with the school and produced the 71 ORIOLE. Working on the annual was really an experience none of us will ever forget. The room we shared became a part of us, it was a place where we could be ourselves and show our feelings. Such memories as Jan never remembering what the difference between a page and a spread were, and Patty would take any dare, Miss G. had to write everything down, Carol required at least seven hours of sleep, our llUrgent Urgent letters from Mary Kistler, Jefferson was always picking up all the messes we made, and 4 pounds of red hats for Valentines Day! Do you remember thursdays? Or our all night meetings until six in the morning? Donlt forget the red room we went through to produce this - does any one have the restless urge to write copy? Our four walls became more understanding as our red felt markers went to work. Rushed photography, horrible deadlines added to the frustrations and confu- sion. Laughter is the sunshine of the soul. Carol had fun writing her nasty announcements, and Lisa worked hard on her layouts, twe wont tell your secret Lisel. Duh . . . I can ,t get the door open! Many cramped crowded hours were spent in that small room, but ifit got bad enough we always had the roof. We had our memories and fun working to bring this book to the school. We hope it is characteristic of the past school year. It is the different ideas that make Osseo what it is. We hope that we have recorded those ideas for the school. The book was ours tin the making and now we share it with the school, and they are a part of it. Mary, Jan, Jan, Carol. The three co-editors Jan Zimmerman, Jan Jefferson, and Carol Galbrecht and Miss Grahek deserve a special thanks from me for all the times when they didnt have to and did.
