Text from Pages 1 - 184 of the 1966 volume:

What is this school year but a unique experience that involves your life? This experience encompasses three seasons, fall, winter, and spring. These seasons become singular as your activities fill their days. Each year these seasons will recur, but they will never tell this same story. This is YOUR year, 1965-1966. Fall brings the beginning of your experience as the doors of Osseo High open to introduce your new teachers and classes. From then on you are the school--you make up the classes, the organizations, and the sports. Following Homecoming the season changes, but you remain. You still comprise the clubs, the sports, and the social events . Spring brings a new emphasis on you as a student. Some of you will leave and some will return next year, but this will always be your year. You are responsible for its successes and failures, its excite- ment and apathy, its joys and sadnesses, its spirit and life. 7726 ORIOLE Presents To You Your Year 1965-66 Editors Jean A ften Shirley Lindberg Susie Torrey In Dedication. . . Development, progress, and initiative were key words in Student Council this past year. Under a new system of homeroom government, the Council set out to develop old projects and initiate new ideas. Among the Council's activities were the bookstore, which served the students year- around, Homecoming parade, Sno-Days and intramural sport's. Senior Jane Gu st and Junior Kathy Delaney represented Osseo at the State Student Council Convention, bring- ing back with them ideas to aid in the re- organization of the Skyline Student Council Workshop. This major project brought rec- ognition to the Council and t0 the school. All year the Council strived to develop a more highly representative Council to serve our growing school. Under able lead- ership, w0rking members attained these goals. SERVING THE STUDENT BODY, the Council maintains the bookstore. LEADING COUNCIL BUSINESS are M. Johnson, Sec.; J. Nelson, Pres.; S. This year's A and B bands split the duties of doing shows to give the A band additional time for concert work. The concert season came in on the strains Of the band's first seasonal production on November 16th. Months of strenuous practice and concert work were exemplified by outstanding participation in district and state music contests. Climaxing the year's events was the appear- ance of Doc Severson, famed trumpeter of Skitch Henderson's band, with the concert band on May 20th. Under the direction of John Kowaike this completed an excellent season for the band. This year Jim Keprios ably filled the position of drum major for A band and Bob Carland for B band. The main objective of the American Field Service Club was to raise money that is used for the purposes of bringing a foreign student to Osseo for a year or send- ing one of our students abroad. A large portion of this money has been derived through the club's sponsorship of such activities as the annual Holly Hop and the A . F.S. Week- end. The A.F.S. Newsletter was the newest addition to the list of the Club's activities. This monthly publication provided Osseo students with news of the club, information about Jaime, and publicity for A .F.S. The successful efforts of the club were seen throughout the year at Osseo in the person of our exchange student, Jaime Oteyza. His ready smile and friendly at- titude made him an excellent representa- tive of his country. Working under the direction of Mrs. Rogge, A . In this comedy, Lollein Rothstein and Jim Newton vividly filled the lead roles as parents of an energetic St. Louis family. The hard work of director Mr. Okerson, student di- rectors Marian Friestad and Don Snorek, the cast, and the crews made the production suc- cessful. TOOTIE AND ROSE hold Lady Babbie. Consisting of four sophomores, nine juniors, and three seniors, Osseols baseball team has been considered a relatively young squad. Most teams would have considered this a setback, but not the Orioles . With the outstanding pitching of John Rulmyr, excellent coaching of Mr. Pitmon, plus the added achievements of the rest of the team, the squad took Osseo's first District Championship by defeating Coon Rapids 4 to O. This year's squad, as in the previous year, put three players on the all conference team. They were, pitcher John Rulmyr, fielder Mike Bull, and catcher Mark Johnson. MIKE EULL displays winning form.
