Class Histor On September 3 1953 twenty eight stouthearted eager freshmen climbed the steps to the top floor of Fairchild High School to begin the four long awaited years of high school These 28, who were determined to make the most of these four, were Edward Emanuel, Richard Flick, Donald Geisdorf, Tommy Gorkowski, Clark Janke James Johnson, Robert Lightfoot, Janice Martin Janice Matysik Evelyn Olson, Betty Peterson, Shirley Pingel Leonard Rice, Thomas Risler, Rich ard Sieg, Claire Staves, Gordon Staves, Jerry Strand, Faith Thunder David wat son, LaVonne Watson, James VonAsten, Joan VonAsten, Thomas Zimmerman Diane Kar iger, Frances Mayer, David Olson, Lawrence Olsen Our class was increased to 29 members when Diane Kariger joined us during the first month of school but by the end of the year the number was reduced to 26 as Claire Staves, James VonAsten, and Jerry Strand left us We started our sophomore year with 27 as Sylvester Nelson left and Donald McClellan and Betty Sabin Joined Only 24 of these completed the year Donald McClellan, Betty Sabin, and Faith Thunder dropped out Our Junior year was an extremely happy one with 23 people sharing 1t's ad ventures LaVonne Watson and Janice Matysik had dropped out and Louise Merritt Joined us This number was reduced to 21 as Richard Flick and Tom Risler left On April 12 and 13 1956, we successfully presented our Junior Class Play 'Desperate Ambrose Two weeks later came our memorable moment of high schoo , thus far the Junior prom Herring's orchestra furnished music to our theme, 'Red Sails In The Sunset ' Bob Lightfoot and Carole Bloom were our royalty the hill Twenty members bore our class colors as Janice Marten had left us w the end of the junior year During the second week of school we received our class rings Our excur sion to Aanes Studio in Eau Claire to have our class pi tures taken, took place on September 19, 1956 Following a very successful ma azine sale, we presented our Senior Class Play, HGa11op1ng Ghosts, on November and 9 The play under the direction of Mr Delvaux, was a mystery comedy and turned out to be a huge success we started the last semester of our Senior year with a sllght change of personnel Donald Giesdorf left to finish school in Augusta and Myrtle Thunder joined us to finish up where she lelt off last year We chose pink and grey for our class colors and the pink rose for our class flower On April 12th the seniors gathered at the foot of Beacon Hill awaitlng their Journey to the Twin Cities We spent a memorable day attending the Ice Follies and exploring the large cities We will always treasure and remember this, our class trip Baccalaurate services were held on May 19 1957 with Class Night on May 22 and Graduation on May 23 Twenty members of the class of 1957 Slowly marched own the aisle with our motto of ' is far and farther sunk deeply into the minds of all Signed 061-DLL I0 J 1 1 l J v , - us. i , , I II 1 : .
