EACH NEW YEAR brings new problems to any school but this fall brought more than its share to OHS. Most of them stemmed from the one big problem of too little space for too many people, and so the 'cstagger system was born. When we came to school fa day earlier than usuallj, we were given a brand new type of pro- gram in one of four attractive colors and we learned that the color of the card determined the shift to which we had been assigned. The plan allowed for only two-thirds of us to be in school at any one time so, what with two study halls taken over for classroom use, most of us were free to leave the building when we were not act- ually in class. It was fun and exciting at first - coming and going at odd hours, rushing down for a coke in mid-morning - but, suddenly, we began to dis- cover some of the drawbacks. We found that we missed seeing many of our best friends whose shifts were different from ours and we realized too, that the new schedule provided little or no time for club or class meetings or for assemblies or pep rallies. We decided that maybe the new freedom wasn't quite to glamorous, after all! 5 In spite of the many handicaps, or, perhaps, because of them, faculty and students worked to- gether wholeheartedly to make sure that the learn- ing process went on without interruption and We 1' ta '7 We under the skillful guidance of our teachers. Miss Eva Asmundsen passed away on November twenty-sixth. Her jine teaching, her wise counsel, and her warm friendship will always be an inspira- tion to those whose lives she touched.
