AS WE HELP TO MOLD TOMORRROW! 105 slum SENIOR JOAN AMES has certainly followed her own advice Take advantage of the opportunities offered you in high school and make the three years count With her outlook and her keen intelligence we know she will make a fine medical technologist Fondest memory The fun she had and the friendships she made serving at the 57 Prom NANCY THALHOFER admits that Never put off 'til tomorrow, etc. is an overworked saying but, nevertheless, it has been her guiding principle all through school and everyone agrees that dependa- bility is one of her outstanding characteristics. For Nancy, a college education is a must with the possibility of interior decorating somewhere in the future. Fondest memories: The friends she made at OHS. JOHN STEVENS, in the years to come when he is successfully running his own clothing business, says he will always look back at the many wonder- ful experiences that filled his high school days-a loyal thought from an equally loyal Senior Star. Fondest memories: Pep meetings and school dances. LARRY DlDLO'S intelligs leadership serves as a solid founc tion for his ambition to become business executive. All throu school he has worked toward tl goal and it has been part of planning to do the very best could in everything he attempted. Fondest memory: His part student government and athletics, KAREN KONRAD has made no definite plans beyond a liberal arts course at college, although her chief interest has always been in the field of English and literature. We know, however, that she will achieve success in whatever line she chooses to follow. Fondest memories: Homecoming '58, Girls' State, cheerleading. i wv'. sz b PAUL POESCHL'S three years have brought him top honors in athletics. They serve as an excellent springboard for his future plans since he hopes to combine a career in engineering with professional ball, We are sure that Paul will continue to be ci symbol of the spirit of Oshkosh wherever he goes. Fondest memories: Homecoming :ind athletics. DAN HIlDEBRAND'S plans, which include law and politics, are entirely consistent with his many activities as a true leader at OHS and with his personal philosophy that we should express our individualism. Fondest memories: Boys' State and the oratorical contest. l STARS CAROL HENDRlCKSON'S hope to serve humanity is reflected in the many fine things she has accom- plished here at OHS. She plans to make her dream a reality by becoming an elementary school teacher- preferably in the fourth and fifth grades, she says. We believe that her understanding and her capa- blity will make her a success in her chosen field. Fondest memory: Her work as Editor-in-Chief of the NOTEBOOK. JIM SCHEUERMANN'S motto, Always fulfill your obligation and then give a little bit more, should certainly lead him to success in a future which will combine a business career with an active interest in dramatics, Jim will remain in our hearts as an example of a real American boy. Fondest memories: The excitement of competitive sports and the fun of acting in plays. SARAH MEYER'S friendly person- ality will go a long way to insure suc- cess in the profession she has chosen for herself. After five years of college, Sarah plans to become a Dean of Women since, as she says, she has always held a keen interest in guidance work. Fondest memory: No one things stands out above the many wonderful experiences she has had. I will be leaving soon and I don't want to leave for I have been happy with you, yet, I'm eager to go home. I feel that the American Field Service, which helped make my coming here possible, chose the right school for me . , . Oshkosh High. I have become part of this school so much that I also feel happy for its achievements and sad for its failures. You took me to so many interesting places and made me one of you. I will always remember your friendliness and thoughtfulness. Of course, I won't forget the wonderful times I had at football and basketball games and the fun I had at the pot lucks. I will also remember the cheers and two particular songs I learned, Hail Alma Mater and The Star-Spangled Banner. I have also been happy as a member of an American family, the Lowell family, who warmly welcomed me into their home. I would like to thank the Student Council and its energetic president for the re- markable work they do. They really worked hard to bring me here. Believe me, you have made one more step toward promoting better understanding among the peoples of the world. Last, but not the least, I would like to thank the school officials and the teachers I have worked with who have broadened my knowledge. They have been very helpful and kind. I would like them to know that I will always look back to them with gratefulness. I will be leaving with a happy heart and will be taking back many happy memories. If someday you have the chance to visit my country, the Philippines will surely welcome you. Can you pick out Osh- kosh girls H. Zuehlke, S. Case, and C. Dahl? G. A. A. Each year, about l50 girls take part in a great variety of interesting activities offered by GAA. The most popular of these sports are badminton, volleyball, bowling, basketball, swimming, tumbling and trampoline, tennis, golf, and archery. Following a sliding scale, ofticials award points tor participation in both individual and group sports. The scale runs from tive points an hour for unsponsored games to 175 for a winner in tournament play. The goal of every member is to earn the 500 points necessary for a letter and then to accumulate another 500 and become the proud owner of a chevron. PI d 1 t Il m I. Dahms and D. ' BASEBALL Our track team has that old go,gol spirit. Climaxing a great season by taking the sub-district title, the lndians gave the entire school something to cheer about. The team chalked up a 2-O non-conference mark, a 5-3 record and second place in the conference, with a 3-l show- ing in tournament play. Much of the success of Coach Quandt's boys was due to the great improfvement of Dick Boese, the fine pitching of Pete Kaul, and the excellent playing of the rest of the team. GOLF After a fourth place finish in the conference, two firsts and a tie in three dual meets, and second place finishes in three quadrangular matches, the squad finished the year with a bang and took the sectional tournament crown. Most out- standing was medalist Roger Schuhart with Schultz, Miller, and Stille right behind. JAYVEE KNEELING: Gross, Frey Bauer. In tourney play, the number one and number two men, Wayne Bohr and Ken Krohn, finished third and fourth in the singles while Wayne Frazier and Leon Duchatschek finished third in the doubles division. The squad played a fine brand of tennis all season long. Duchatschek, Frazier, Schwertfeger, Bahr, Krohn, Coach Hansen. li 0 I TRACK Coach Hall's thinclads had a good season behind the tremendous scoring spree of Larry Didlo and the fine per- formances of Englund, Cowan, Schultz, Weisner, and Com- pany. The boys showed they really had what it took.
