A memory of you will linger on with us. Our teachers kind and true, Our lessons now are through. A life will start anew as now we leave our dear friends. But still we have to go. The years have not gone slow, For now the time has come for gradua- tion. Because we soon will part Our teardrops slowly start. You'll find a broken heart among our school days here. A M0170 COLORS Our future lies in what we do now 'Gregg gud Ygllgw . g p- ' ,R Long, ong Ago The chimes of time ring out the news that another year has passed and from the sheltering walls of the Osceola Mills High School graduates another senior class, the class of '52. ln the fall of 1948, after eight years of preparation, we finally attained the standing of Freshmen, under the guidance of Mr. Richard Farabaugh. With a feeling of importance we elected our class officers: Lynn Albert, president, Jim Delansky, vice-president, Mildred Luther, secretary-treasurer. Our first activity as a class was the sale of balloons at the football games. The main attraction at the class party was a contest among the students to find out the one who could eat the most. By May we had obtained enough courage to present our class plays: Aunt Hetty , directed by Miss Bittinger, and Junior's Mustache, directed by Mr. Farabaugh. The first evening performance was what may be classified as a fiop. When Jerome Hughes stepped out for cookies, he forgot to return. The summer passed quickly, and we found ourselves coming back in the fall as sophisticated Sophomores. Miss Mary Kay McAvoy was our class ad- visor, and we elected as class officers: Genevieve Angeiske, president, Lynn Albert, vice-president, Harriet Gravish, secretary, and Carolyn Jeneski, treasurer. We soon discovered that our freshman homeroom had been converted into a Home Economics department. There comes a time in the history of every class when everyone seems to do exactly as he is told not to. This occurred during our sophomore year, which explains the fact that we had no activities. During this year a new system of study was experimented in our school. The students did not approve of the system and protested by going on strike. Order was restored, and the system continued until the close of the school year. With a feeling of importance we began our iunior year under the guiding hand of Miss Williams. After six weeks Miss Williams took over the responsi- bility of the library, and Mr. Redin became our class advisor. As Mr. Redin was a new teacher, and this was his first assignment, we enjoyed a year of confusion and trouble making. Elected as class oFFicers were Jim Delansky, president, Genevieve Angeiske, vice-president, Harriet Gravish, secretary, and Jean Mott, treasurer. ln October we received our class rings, which were sported with pride and satisfaction. With a year of experience in dramatics, our class play, Special Delivery Male , proved to be very successful dramatically as well as financially. The coming of May turned our attention to Class Day and the prom. We present- ed for the Seniors the customary program for Class Day. Since the class, as well as Mr. Redin, was new at such activities, there were many mistakes in the pro-- gram. We made it up to the Seniors by presenting for them a beautiful prom. We had a new orchestra, which displayed their musical talent. Near the end of the school year, accompanied by Mr. Allsopp, we iour- neyed to Black Moshannon for our class picnic. Although it was a cold and rainy day, everyone seemed to enioy himself. Several brave boys even went swim- ming. A summer's rest, and then what, we were waiting for Our Senior Year! Under the skilled guidance of Miss Dugan we started our many activities. During football season we sold. refreshments at the field. Since this proiect proved very successful, our yearbook fund was increased greatly. During November we conducted the annual magazine campaign. Doris Stranko was the highest salesman and received a pen and pencil set, Marlene Pearson was the winner of the watch. After weeks of practice we presented our play, It's a Great Life. The cast enioyed practices Cwith the games of hide-and-seek in the dark school while off stagei as much as the performances. i It ' 'T Wt 'frm The school cafeteria began operation at the beginning of our last semester. At this time we began concentrated work on our yearbook. Going was hard for a while, but finally we completed our task. As our school days grew fewer and fewer, our activities became more and more. On May l we excitedly boarded a bus and were off for Washington. Here were three days that will linger in our memories for a long time. We returned to Osceola and again began our work. We made final arrangements for the re- maining activities. The tears were beginning to gather in our eyes as we donned our caps and gowns for the first time on Class Night. The Juniors presented for us a prom which fulfilled our dreams. Class Day was as much a success as the prom. During our last week of school we had many activities. Baccalaureate services were held in the Presbyterian Church. Our next activity was a trip to Black Moshannon for our class picnic. The P.T.A. honored us with a very elaborate and delectable banquet. Last but not least was our graduation day. This was the exciting day we had looked forward to for twelve long years. Everyone passed from his mind the troubles, quarrels, and worries of the past years and replaced them with the memories of pleasure, friendship, and enioyments. As we filed out singing our class song, we took upon our shoulders new burdens and began our life in a new world. Time Alone Will 'fell . The little big town of Osceola Mills is honoring its one hundredth anni- versary with a gala home week celebration. In this peaceful year of 1977 all the world-famous people gather to pay tribute to this successful town. Do you know who gave Osceola Mills such marvelous fame? None other than the Senior Class of 1952. Listen! Why here they come now singing Hur- rah for our Town. The clapping in the public square is thunderous. Suddenly silence falls over the room because none other than the President of the United States, John Cowfer, advances to the platform. The cheering is said to be heard for miles around and quiets down as he prepares to speak. Jdhn emphasizes the greatness of our land and personally decorates Andy Drochak and Jerome Hughes with Congressional Medals of Honor for their heroism in the last war. Jerome gives his credit for being alive to that very capable nurse Anna Ruth Mattern. Next in this town of fame come the marvelous writer of stage and screen, Frank Kovalchick, and his star of stars, Harriet Gravish. Speaking of stars, the well known astronomer, Joe Soltys, discovered the new planet, Nolite -a re- markable achievement in the scientific world. lt was highly publicized in Ronnie Mattern's famous newspaper, the New York Sun , Now comes the man who keeps law and order. He started out as a rookie poilceman and rose to a Supreme Court Justice, the invincible Jim Delansky. Jim smashed so many spy rings that anyone involved in one is considered a square. Did you know our own Melvin Williams is the doctor who discovered the delicate method to mend broken hearts? At last the world acknowledges the weatherman. As you know by this time Al Bagrosky invented a rain and shine dial to turn oFf and on as he pleased. His financier for this experiment is none other than Miss Dorothy Kennedy, the multi-millionairess. She holds the title of Diamond Queen Dot. Here comes the renowned woman, Rita Buynak, whom many have heard about, but few have seen because all her time is spent in the deepest iungles of Africa, where she hunts for the most ferocious and wildest animals on earth. She Tinle Alone W5'ill Tell - Continued sends all her game to Don and Ron Bezilla, the owners of the famous Bezilla Bros. Circus. For the first time in the political history of Pennsylvania a woman governor, Delores Moriarity, has been elected to office. On a visit to the governor the fam- ous stylist of fads and fashions, Estelle Smith, designed a wardrobe for Caroline Jeneski and Mildred Luther, the famous Powers models. In order to provide transportation for all these people Jean Mott and Lynn Albert are giving them free and comfortable passage on their widely known air- line, The Flying Saucers. Their largest and most successful airport is located in the thriving metropolis of Osceola Mills. Osceola Mills is centered around the longest street in Pennsylvania, named after the archetect, Anthony Kechisen, who designed the rebuilding of this town. The central parks are of picturesque beauty, surrounded by department stores on- all sides. Rexine Bush owns a chain of five and ten cent stores and is indeed a shrewd business woman. Everyone knows where Joann Desso's beauty salon is because on special holidays she brings Marlene Pearson, the famous hair stylist of New York society, to demonstrate the latest city fashions to the ladies. Osceola now has its own telephone exchange and, naturally, Mary Louise Adams in the head operator. James Varner drives the fabulous Busy Bus, touring the United States on exhibition. He has a record for his safe and comfortable driving. lt isn't sur- prising since Marion Socoski, a graduate nurse, checks the speed and sees that the passengers are comfortable. Genevieve Angeiske is a psychiatrist who found out why some people want to be dictators. Bobby Ritchie, ambassador to Mars, and his capable secretary, Rosemary Holmes, have iust returned from a long pleasant visit with the leaders of the Martians. They were escorted on this voyage into space by Danny Kephart, pilot of the Comet. After every class member has named his status in the world, Bernard Heff- eran announces that he is providing refreshments and entertainment for all in his stupendous nightclub, The Inn By Midnight. Conducting the serving of this fabulous dinner is the accomplished waitress, Josephine Adams. Amusement for this gala occasion features the famous vocalist, Doris Stranko, accompanied by Delores Petrosky at the piano. Everyone is chattering gaily and sincerely thanking the class of '52 for their prominent part in the history and future of Osceola Mills. ese 'hings we Her You After twelve years of school we, as Seniors, have finally decided that The Best Things in Life are Free. It was directed by Mr. Redin, class advisor. The class chose a farce comedy, which proved to be a great success. The scene took place in Southern California at a hotel owned by Carl Hammond. Carl's nephew, Don Thomas, hoping to win the favor of a scenario writer, plotted a murder mystery and created a complete mix-up of mis-identification. After a period of much confusion, the Desert Inn gradually returned to its original atmosphere of peace and quiet. Juniors participating were Raymond O'Brien, Jack Wallace, Paul Shulick, Margie Socash, Inez McCloskey, Raymond Malicki, Ruth Sankey, Mary Baughman, Charlotte Latz, Ronnie Stephens, Eddie Hartman, Jim Wigfield, Madeline Hughes, and Robert' Myers. The Junior Class enjoyed many parties and dances during the school term. in football season they frequently held dances at the Firemen's Hall after the games for the purpose of increasing their class treasury. Again at Christmas time they frolicked in the Moose Ballroom, which was festively decorated for the holiday season. The students exchanged humorous gifts and remembered Mr. Redin with a shirt and tie. The Leap Year dance afforded another pleasant even- ing. The girls, taking advantage of the old American custom, escorted their fav- orite male to the party. 4 X K 1 N X115 qs A ,X 5 l. ..,..
