CLASS llIST0llY As we look back 1nto the annals of our fresh man year at Osceola Hlgh we fmd tl1at we were a llttle scared that year but w1th the help of the upperclassmen and the faculty most of us survlved We were d1v1ded 1nto three sectlons Our sponsors for these sect1ons were Mrs F dna Seel Mlss Gwen Morelock and Mrs Mary MCXVlllTICT Presrdents of these sectlons were Almond Drummond Mary Jo Overstreet and jlm MCL3llghllH M1ke Treat was elected as freshman representat1ve to the Student Councrl We concluded our f1rst year 1n hrgh school w1th a class p1cn1c A llttle folly made us real1ze that hlgh school wasn t so terrrble after all We had lots of energy stored up durrng the months of summer vacatron energy whlch would be spent durlng our sophomore year Mrs Fred LaCava and Mrss Sarah Clark were our sponsors and helped us to get mto the sw1ng of th1ngs Also Almond Drummond Vlctor Lasseter Adrls Schellenberg served as Pres1dent Vlce Pres1 dent and Secretary Treasurer respectlvely M1ke Treat and Margaret Trautwem d1d a wonderful Job as TCPTCSCHIHIIVCS to the Student Councll Of course wlth the com1ng of th1s new and eventful year we had new respons1b1l1t1es We took over the concessron stands and sold magazlnes durlng the annual magazlne dr1ve each tlme set tmg a new school record At the close of the year we started plann1ng the trad1t1onal sophomore senlor barbecue Not even the unpleasant showers could spoll that de l1c1ous southern barbecued chlcken Swrmmmg topped off tl1e day at Lake W1lson We were gurded through our JUHIOI' year by the leadershrp of our sponsors Mr Dewey Ph1l llps Mrs Laura Blerk and Mr Bud Campbell Our offrcers th1s year were Almond Drummond Presrdent Mxke Treat V1ce Presldent and Leon Fertrc Secretary Treasurer Puttlng on dances after the football games kept us busy unt1l that real blg dance the un1or Senror Prom came along Th1s was tl1e outstand1ng soclal event of the year Our theme was Arablan Nxghts and was approprlately carrled out w1th Allad1n Lamps and desert scenes The school l-unchroom was the scene of our banquet and we later mos ed to the Tupperware Pav1l1on for an evenlng of danclng The class of 1956 entertamed us w1tl1 an early breakfast held at the Youth Center rmmensely en Joyed by both classes After eleven long slow years came tl1e chmax of our hrgh school careers our SCIIIOT year YVe were then the Graduatmg Class of 1957 Mlss COYTIHC Van Iderst1ne Mr Bud Camp bell Mr B111 Perry and Mr Casey Stephenson were our sen1or sponsors For the fourth consecu t1ve year Almond Drummond was elected PICSI dent M1ke Treat was chosen x7lCCPI'CSldCI1t Leon Fert1c Secretary and Margaret Trautwem Treasurer On Apr1l 17 we l1ad Sklp Day At seven a m we boarded the bus for a day at Daytona Beach and Ponce De Leon Sprmgs WV e came hon1e w1th sunburns and sore backs that day a banquet we real1zed that our hlgh scl1ool days were rap1dly decreaslng NVe forgot th1s momen tarlly and enjoyed the prom and the banquet WVC were served by plrates and danced to the mus1c of the Sandplpers at the Tupperware Pav1l1on As customary we returned the honor by treat 1ng the jumors to a breakfast party Next on our date book was Class Nlght Th1s farewell productnon took place on an Indlan reser vat1on The pow wow brought back all the memor1es of our hlgh school days On the even1ng of June 2 we donned our caps and gowns for the f1rst t1me for the lmportant event of thrs our last week of school Baccalaureate Servxce held some deep thoughts for us the d1gn1f1ed semors Pomp and Clrcumstance stlrred every semor on the night of une 7 as we walked down tl1e arsle to recerve our drplomas Th1s was the end of our high school educatlon Th1s was our GRADUATION DAY BEVERLY HAEN . , ,.., , A 3 ' Y . . , ' ' , l . . , ' . , .
