Medieval Realm Regales Guests by Suzanne Mayeux History repeated itself for a brief moment at Christmas from December 9-l l. A medieval feast replete with turkey legs, music, and royalty, awaited the revelers that traveled back in timeon a cold, wintry night. This journey began with the hard work of the Chorus and the Drama students. Mrs. Carla Webster spent hours turning the OHS stage into the interior of a medieval feasting hall. Students created stained glass windows and hung purple banners from the newly built stone walls. A dais was set up for the King and Queen and their lords and ladies. The jesters practiced their jokes and sewed bells onto their caps. Mrs. Kendall Kline worked ev- ery student in the Chorus until vocal chords nearly gave out from practice. The Chorus students learned ancient Christmas carols, some in French and Latin. Guests arrived and were led down a dimly lit hall. They were then announced by one of the two jesters, better known as Doug Se- gouin and Ken Madden. Dinner was served by peasant girls: loaves of warm bread, turkey legs, corn on the cob and brownies. Fingers were used instead of utensils. Spiced cider was im- bibed to the old toast ol' Was- sail! King Jeff Qlscn and Queen Suzanne Messenger were gra- cious hosts, but their jesters stole the show. As the King and Queen and their lords and ladies sang forthe guests, Jester Doug and Jester Ken cracked jokes, shot cider through their teeth, and generally fell about the place which greatly amused the guests. As the jesters' bells died away, people returned to the concerns of their own time.
