By Jackie LaGrow Working with such things as computers, keyboards, typewrit- ers, numbers and stenography pads helped many students pre- pare for careers in the business field. Students utilized the nu- merous business classes offered to help them get a better start in the world. One class that was offered to students was BCE, Business Cooperative Education. This class helped students develop good working relationships, working skills, and personal grooming. After these students gained the appropriate skills, the organization helped to place them in jobs. They placed students in such places as law offices, credit unions, and finance services. Ac- cording to what occupation stu- dents wished to enter they took one of sixteen business tracts, or fields. For those who wanted help in another form they could join FBLA, Future Business Leaders of America. The club members attended rallies that taught the skills needed for a future in the business world. For two periods a day, students learned through demonstrations and pro- jects the skills of their chosen trade. The opportunity to gain hands-on experience provided students with a feeling of accomplishment and taught them to take pride in their work. Students had their choice from a myriad of courses including Diesel Engine Mechanics, Small and Large Animal Services, Carpentry, and Floral Design and Marketing. Having the chance to acquire experience in a practical field was not only enjoyable for those who participated, but also beneficial. With the in- struction students received it was easier for them to find employment and they learned about the advan- tages of teamworkesomething they can use for a Concentrating on getting just the right angle is lifetime.
