Secretaries: Holding Down the Fort By Jennifer Bowman Typing, filing, and advising kept our secretaries an integral part of the staff. They did a lot for the stu- dents and school. Ms. Pippin was kept constantly busy this year typ- ing progress reports, Guidance Newsletters, letters for counselors and transcripts. She also set up confer- ences between teachers and parents, and scheduled visits from College Representatives. Mr. McLay,s secretary, Mrs. Huneke, was always on the go. Her main jobs were taking care of person- nel records and overseeing the clerical staff. She spent much of her time working as a liaison between principals, teachers, students, the community, county personnel and publications. Mrs. Huneke also han- dled the payroll distribution for OHS employees. Mrs. Gingras and Mrs. McGann ran the main office. Mrs. Gingras knew practically every face in school as a result of her handling the attendance. Mrs. McGann collated and typed the daily bulletin as well as taking time to talk with students who needed a friendly ear. Finally, Mrs. De Gregorio and Mrs. Fil- mon kept the records and huge loads of paperwork under control. Our secretaries were very important and without them OHS would be buried under mountains of pa- perwork. Updating files is a big part of Mrs. Huneke's job t t r rrr t r 1
